Thanks TT.

I was about to call out Hammonds. He just doesn't give up.

lol what?

Ramos is hurt and out for the year.  He was more than serviceable last year and while his defense was down this season, he still could hit.

I'm upset with Ramos, he's not even serviceable this year.

Not here to defend my brother but I understand what he's saying.

2011: LaRoche before DL/injury: .172 /.288 /.258
2012: Ramos before injury: .265 /.354 /.398

LaRoche was batting below .200. Ramos was productive before he went down.

Anyway back to the topic: I take back what I said/thought about LaRoche. He is having a unusual hot start and is seriously mashing the crap out of the ball.

Will there be an Extend LaRoche thread?

Unlikely since he has a mutual option. ;)

It doesn't matter what LaRoche was batting in 2011. He had the frealkin injury since  early ST. The whole year was bombed.

Hence the not serviceable part? What am I missing here.

LaRoche was hurt last year and his only fault, if you can even call it that, was trying to play through it.

... people had every right to be upset with LaRoche last year.  He even admitted he wasn't serviceable.

.
Upset?? disappointed would be more accurate and succinct. It wasn't like he wanted to have surgery , recover and go through re-hab for 8 months. He lost a year of his career and yes he got paid but I can guarantee you he would do anything to have not  let it happen.

One thing he mighta done... he might have fessed up to the FO earlier that his shoulder was killing his swing, that it wasn't just another slow start. But I know that professionals want to play, and will do anything to play.

Hammonds was upset with LaRoche because he was hurt? That's bullcrap in my book.

What are the shiners supposed to man up about, being right about the team being good this year?

With two games to go before the quarter point, Adam LaRoche is 19th in the MLB in WAR.

Didn't see that coming.

Since this is the Adam LaRoche thread, I'll post it here.

That final at-bat, was even worse than I remembered, 90 minutes ago.  What was he trying to accomplish on the 2-0 count.  It wasn't a homerun swing because we've seen his homerun swing.  The only place the ball was going to go was back to the pitcher.  It was the at-bat of someone who wanted the game to be over.   >:(

I've reassessed.  LaRoche yesterday was worse than LaRoche on Opening Day.  He was only 0 for 3 with 3Ks on OD but he did have a walk.  Yesterday, he was 0 for 5 with 2Ks and no walks.  The only way he got to first base yesterday was on defense.

And that last at-bat yesterday, is like grape juice on the white carpet...a stain that won't easily be removed.

Some people... geesh. Anywho, I know the "magic glove" shtick has been overplayed by FP and Bob, but LaRoche is pretty smooth around the bag. He's definitely been the bright spot of our offense along with... Ian? maybe? LaRoche is allowed to have a rough game from time to time. It happens. As much as we dislike the O's, their pitching, especially their bullpen of late, has been quite good. Add that to the fact that they seem to crush mistake pitches and... crap happens.

I just checked.  I don't have any free passes in my pocket so Adam's out of luck there.

I don't expect and he doesn't have to be stellar every game but you have to admit that yesterday, that last at-bat in particular, was a real stinker.  A comebacker on a 2-0 count in the 11th inning with runners on and in scoring positions is about as bad a outcome as a batter can produce.

I know you're just mocking SF and a couple of others, but he did have a walk and a run tonight.

People saying he's turning into a bum again after two weak games are a joke.  He's carried the offense all year and had a 3-hit 4-run game against the Bucs.

I don't think he's turning into a bum at all.
