Yep. And there's a progression to that. Right now, there's still some argument about RBI, so it's not quite there yet. But it will be. For many, it already is.

If it passes into the common usage, it's proper.  Shrug.

I think  "cop a feel" comes from a sting the vice squad mounted.

Cop is an acronym. You can pronoun it. It's okay to pluralize acronyms. RBI is not. To prove this minor point, people say ribbies to make the abbreviation, RBI, into an acronym. Other acronyms are scuba, radar, etc.

It's only a minor point, but RBI doesn't really get an "s" on the end to make it plural. It's not an acronym.

I wasn't an English major, but I was a journalism major.

I didn't say that RBI is an acronym.  I said that, through common usage, it's treated as a noun in its own right.  As such, the plural form should include an 's' at the end.

Merriam Webster has both RBIs and RBI being the correct plural of RBI.

Since English tries to force feed us Latin rules of grammar, I think RBII should be the proper plural.

Chin currently has as many RBIs as the next 3 guys behind him.  Also as many as everyone else on the team combined.

I wonder what LaRoche would look like without the goatee.

He's been so good so far - I hope it lasts.

I don't mean to be "that guy", but this isn't news.  It was discussed a while back.

Sorry, but there's no way to say that that doesn't come off douchey

Between that gig and his own site, it's probably no surprise that he doesn't have as much time for us little folk anymore :P

Fangraphs on LaRoche -

-----------
LaRoche is having the biggest impact with runners on base. He’s posted a .493 wOBA with runners on and a .425 wOBA with runners in scoring in position, numbers way ahead of his career averages.  He’s hit two of the Nationals six home runs. And he’s driven in 13 of the Nationals 46 runs scored.

Sure, his BABIP is off the charts right now at .433. He’s been lucky and benefited from playing against teams with less than stellar defense. But he’s creating his own luck by hitting line drives and fly balls a much higher clip than he has over the course of his career.  Before this season, his lowest ground ball rate was 35 percent. So far in 2012, it’s at 21. 9 percent.

At 33 years old, LaRoche is off to the best start of his career. Right now, he’s the engine powering the Nationals to their best start since the franchise moved from Montreal to Washington in 2005.

Maybe I'm splitting hairs here but aren't Fangraphers the same folk who strenuously deny that a batter has any control over where the ball goes?  Saying LaRoche is "creating his own luck" doesn't seem to jive with that.

I'm pretty sure hitting line drives versus other kinds of contact is a skill.  The luck part comes in when counting how many line drives actually go for hits.

It's still way too early to draw any real conclusions from this stuff - but it's nice to see him get off to a nice start after last year's crape show.

Kind of- I think they acknolwedge that hitters have some control over ground/drive/fly, but no control beyond that
