I know the NHL owners are using the buyout options to get rid of unwanted players.  Can MLB owners "buyout" those players who are costing a fortune without any production?

I would love to see the new Nationals owners buyout the contracts for Guzman, Castilla, and even Jose Vidro.  I really think we need buyouts for Guzman and Castilla because these guys have ZERO trade value.

Second, I'm real nervous about Jim Bowdon.  I think the Malek group should seriously reevaluate the general manager position.  Bowdon has made some hits and misses with his deals.

Since it's a contractual arrangement between the club and the player, I am guessing that they can.   All they have to have is an agreement between the club & player about how much the team will pay to get out of the contract and get the guy off the team.

if they bought them out, who would replace them? carlos baerga is not an improvement to Jose Vidro.

Oh man, you are counting the Caps season record already?

As a member of Red Wings Nation, that is a futile exercise.

BTW....I'm reaaaaaaly drunk and bummed about the Nats right now!

My ultimate wet dream:

Nats win the NL Pennant
Eagles win the Super Bowl
Red Wings win their 11th Stanley Cup

I have to puke now and pass now. eeerrrrrrrr.....
