Exactly.  Even if he's 29 (though he's probably 34), he should be much more developed than he has appeared.  I don't get what they saw in him.  Is Cuban professional baseball really that bad?

Cuban baseball is decent. It's possible that Maya is 32-33 and has seen his better days considering some of those guys start playing in their big leagues before they turn 20.

(Note on Myaya fastball: MLB records it as 88 mph. Steady. If he has three or four other pitches, why does he start a batter with a fastball? Can't Livo explain the basics? Warren Spahn: Hitting is timing. Pitching is disrupting timing, or words to that effect.)
