Look, on a hit and run, you aren't at the next bag by the time the pitch crosses the plate, as Desmond was.
It was a straight steal because Desmond was sliding into third by the time Zimmerman was swinging... had it been a hit and run, you actually wait to take off until the batter starts his swing... that's why when you see a busted hit and run, the runner gets thrown out by a mile... because they weren't going to make it on a steal. Desmond, had third base stolen easily if Zimmerman hadn't swung... because he stole. It was not a hit and run.
That's your opinion ... when I saw it looked like it was a hit and run. I'm not sticking up for him I don't care who the freak was running. Tough luck but that ball drops its a tie game.
