(WOODBRIDGE, VA) Tyler Moore has been named the Carolina League's Most Valuable Player in 2010. The first baseman leads the League in home runs and RBIs, and his 29 homers have set a new Potomac franchise record.

Moore won four Player of the Week awards over a span of six weeks in the season's second half, a period during which he went on an offensive barrage for the ages. In the 36 games from July 15 to August 22, Moore mashed 18 home runs and drove in 54. He also knocked 16 doubles and scored 39 runs. Over that stretch, Moore slugged at a .929 clip and posted an eye-popping 1.400 OPS.

Moore is just the second player in Potomac history to be named the League MVP. Troy Farnsworth was honored in 2000; that season, Farnsworth set a club record with 113 RBIs. With six games remaining in the regular season, Moore sits just six shy of that all-time mark.

The Brandon, Mississippi native also leads the circuit in doubles (43), extra-base hits (75), total bases (264) and HR/AB ratio (he hit a homer in every 16.83 at-bats). He is first among active players in slugging percentage at .541, and trails only Eric Hosmer who slugged at .545.

Moore has spearheaded a resurgent Potomac offense that sits atop the Carolina League's Northern Division by a game and a half with six left to play.

The other Carolina League Award winnners are Lynchburg's Jordan Hotchkiss (Pitcher of the Year) and Joe McEwing of Winston Salem, who won his second consecutive Manager of the Year award.

The Nationals play their final two road games of the regular season in Salem tonight and Friday before returning home for their last homestand of 2010 over Labor Day Weekend. A Fireworks Extravaganza after Saturday's doubleheader kicks off an action-packed weekend. Call 703-590-2311 to reserve your tickets and catch the P-Nats on their march to the postseason.
