OOTP / iOOTP
« Topic Start: April 09, 2013, 08:01:22 PM »
I bought OOTP13 for iOS.  It has some interesting configurations wrt to the Nats.  Ohlendorf and Abad are on the team, Mattheus and henry are in the minors.  Tyler Moore is platooning with ALR.  Ramos is batting 2nd.

I'm 7-14 so far.  No hitting, and Gio has a 7.80 ERA.

Is it OOTP (per the thread title), OTTP (per your first sentence) or both?

It's iOOTP when it's for the mobile devices. 14 comes out soon.

I bought that last fall and was hoping to have some fun with it, but the only thing I could figure out to do was start out managing an A-Ball team of made up no names. Managing every play. Yawn.

14 is out, the download link is in my inbox! Why am I at work.

Oh, from the OOTP discussion forum:

"My 2nd season in the new quickstart and Bryce Harper has the best season I've ever seen (I've been playing since OOTPX): .405/.482/.827 64 HR 153 RBI, a 249 OPS+ and a whopping 17.3 WAR. Should they even bother with MVP voting this year?"

14 is the PC version though, 13 is the latest for iOS.

In the iOS version I'm currently at 57-60, in 4th place.  Harper is out for 4 months, Zimmerman for 2.  I got an offer from the Tigers to trade Haren for Victor Martinez and a catching prospect, so I took it, and then swapped V-Mart and Leon to the Mariners for Mikey-Mo.  The auto-lineup has Morse batting 4th and playing 1st.  LaRoche keeps sending me messages that he's not happy, but if I offer him to anyone I get the "I will not trade for over-paid veterans!" message.

Best hitters so far are Espinosa (.287, 16HR) and Desmond (.287, 14 HR).  Clippard has a 3.94 ERA, Gio's is down to 6.18.  Chris Young joined the rotation to take Haren's place.  The rest of the staff is pitching roughly in-line with their real-world performance, but the team can't hit a lick.

You can choose a big league club to manage when you set up a new game, and you don't have to manage every play: You can sim through games, if you want. Email me at brad.cook@ootpdevelopments.com if you need any help with that. I hate to see someone have a bad experience with the game when the issues are easily solved. Thanks.

Thank you for participating in this form.  Question: Have you guys ever thought about regular updates throughout the year as the lineups change and players move around?  I'd also like to see a closer relationship between default lineups and the real world.  For instance, as I noted in above, in iOOTP 13 the Nats default is to have Tyler Moore platooning with Adam LaRoche.  The game also wants to bat Ramos 2nd.

Hang on there, GM, you're supposed to take care of that stuff yourself. ;)

No, seriously - I just started my first OOTP14 game, as the Astros. They had Altuve batting third and Maxwell leading off, so I went to the "Lineups" tab and made my adjustments. :)

iOOTP 2013 seems to think the schedule runs 163-165 games.  They did just release an update with updated lineups though.

i'll buy iOTP when the new version comes out, i'm into season 2099 now, I expect that in season 2100 global warming destroys the season.

OOTP 15 and iOOTP 14 are now out.  I bought iOOTP14 for $4.99.  The graphics are much much worse than 13, but other than that I haven't noticed much difference other than updated teams.  The blocky bright blues are hard on the eyes.

Some Nats notes from iOOTP:  Leon makes the roster over Lobaton. Roark gets the 5th slot with Detwiler in the pen.  Stammen and Clippard are the setup pitchers.  Roenicke makes the pen over Barrett.

Default vs RHP:
Desmond/Span/Harper/Zimm/Werth/Rendon/LaRoche/Leon

vs LHP:
Desmond/Rendon/Zimm/Harper/Werth/Ramos/LaRoche/Span

McLouth DH against RHP, Zimm vs RHP (with Espinosa at 2B and Rendon at 3B)

In my first season running the nats, just auto playing each week and making no changes, they are 16-21 and in 4th place, so pretty realistic. :(

Anybody see this? Pat Neshek, actual MLB pitcher, talks about managing himself in OOTP 13:

"I gave myself every shot to make it, but it just didn't work out. My first year I ended up designating myself but I re-signed me. The next season I did really well but did terrible when I got called up. I decided to bring myself back for the third season and I was terrible. At the end of the year I tried to negotiate a new contract and my sim cut off all negotiations. Currently my sim has been a free agent for the past two years."

By the end of the 2nd season managing the Nats in iOOTP14, my lineup was as follows:

1B: Goldschmidt
2B: Rendon
SS: Tulo
3B: RZ
LF: Harper
CF: McCutcheon
RF: Werth
C:  Leon (the game designated Ramos as the backup)

Rotation was Strasburg, JZ, AJ Cole, Gio, and Fister.  Closer was Storen, rest of the bullpen wasn't much different than it is today.

I'm about 7 seasons in, Nats have made the playoffs all but 1 year, with one WS win.

Got tulo for Desmond, giolito and a reliever.  I think Goodwin, clippard and someone else got me mccutcheon. Don't recall goldschmidt.

iOOTP pushed out an update, including roster updates.  30 games into the new season Werth suffered a career ending injury.  They've got Desmond batting lead-off, and Ramos and Leon in a platoon with Lobaton in the minors.  They also have Clippard as the closer.

OOTP 15 is up for the fan vote for the next flash sale.  If the sports simulation category wins, it'll be 75% off (currently at 25% off).
