  And a couple of players went 0-10 at the plate and one went 0-11.

Those were probably the great-grandfathers of some players on our current roster :|

I still can't figure out what he's saying.  It almost looks like he starts to say "Number one", but then at the last moment switches to "wooooo", so it comes out as "Number wooooo", which just doesn't make any sense...
I have no idea what the hell came out of that mouth...

I'm thinking "LaaaaRoche woooo". It was right after he bounced a homer off the foul pole.

Did anyone see that blowhard LaVar Arrington throw the ceremonial first pitch?  He made a bunch of cocky moves on the mound before the pitch, then proceeded to throw the ball about 2/3 of the way to home plate :lmao:

Watching Quick Pitch, they started off with the Nats highlights.  Tidbit: Nats/Expos have started 6-2 or better only 5 times in franchise history including in 1981, the only time they have reached the post season.  Two of the seasons they went on to win 95+ games, two of the seasons they were under .500.

They're #1 in lots of pitching statistics and among the best in almost all of them.

#1 in ERA, #1 in BAA, #2 in WHIP, #1 in Ks, #1 in HR, #1 in R, #1 in ER, #6 in H

They are weakest in walks allowed, #23.

I believe both starting pitchers went the distance in that game.

Sure. In some ways it was a different game. Granted Nolan Ryan says cowboy up whiney pitchers.

Okay, Four Things

1) We may have one of the best pitching staffs in the league and our games have showed that
2) We have the most unclutch hitting of all time
3) The Goon Squad may be either A) the luckiest or B) the most clutch squad of all time (which brings up a paradox since our hitting sucks)
4) What the hell is the deal with us and walk offs? Not that I'm complaining...

The pitch was weak, funny as hell and he got booed hard.  He was on the radio before the game and Dukes and the callers were telling him to make all those moves, he was going to just walk out to the base of the mound and throw the ball but they convinced him to stand on the rubber and shake off the first couple calls.

So this was Werth's first game-winning hit for us, right?

Stammen is pitching with attitude. I love it.

I know the offensive offense thread gets bumped, but I almost made one for best Nationals pitching performance last night. While there have been better individual performances by pitchers, this was a great night for the staff. 13 innings, 1 run.

You'd think that a professional athlete of any stripe would go mark out 60 feet 6 inches in the luxurious back yard and throw a few to make sure it got there. Jesus. Maybe he just choked, I don't know.

Both teams have terrible terrible offenses, but those pitchers put on a clinic. The starters were insanely good, Mattheus and HROD and Stammen whooped ass.

Is it better to bounce it in than to sail it over the catcher's head?  Both are bad.  Certainly given the chance I'd take a couple dozen practice throws first, or at least I'd plan too before running out of time.

Before Werth got his hit in the ninth I bellowed something like "I swear to God I will find you in the parking lot if you don't get a hit right now" :lmao:
