Thoughts?

Reads like a puff piece to me.  All of the points raised are meaningless or at least highly subjective.  Unknown publisher with unheard of game just trying to cash in on a favor with somebody in the biz to drum up some pub for their game.  Nothing wrong with that, but come on.  Video games aren't deathmatches.  If both games are great, you buy both games.

Followup - Dark Souls is console-only, so that's going to make it an automatic no-contest for a large portion of Skyrim's intended market.

Anyone else going to the midnight release for Skyrim?

I'll probably just get it on steam so it's ready to go.

Yeah, pretty sure it's gonna have to be activated through Steam regardless, so unless you're going for the collector's stuff there's really no reason to bother with a boxed version unless your connection just sucks or you like having a cardboard box.

Think it will have the timed opening thing where you can download it ahead of time and at midnight it unlocks and is ready to play?  Not that it matters since I'll probably be at work anyway.

Not sure.  Did they do it for Brink?  That's the only other major release by Bethesda that I can think of since they teamed up with Valve.  I believe the decision on that is up to the publisher but Valve usually does it if there are no objections.

Don't know.  I've never bought anything from steam on release day or anything like that.

The original one, Demon's Soul, was supposed to be one of the hardest RPG's ever made. Your character died frequently and often. I think, because of that, this series will always be a niche series.

Damn, that Battlefield 3 commercial was really impressive, even if 99 problems was kind of an odd sound track.

The full thing is on youtube somewhere. Unedited, it sounds pretty awesome and of course has a jab at COD at the end.

It's a shame the PC version of the game sounds like it's going to be a steaming pile of crap between Origin and the "launch from a browser" crap.  I have a very low tolerance for such things.  You said you're getting the PC version, right?  Maybe you can post a review here to help me decide.

Ew, Dragon Nest did that crap.  The shortcut it put on your desktop was actually a shortcut to Nexon's (the pub) website, from which you clicked play which launched the game on your PC.  WTH is the point of that?

I'm really not looking forward to dealing with Origin, so we'll see how it goes. I'll let you know my experience.

I'm watching a guy live stream it and he just went through the browser stuff, it actually looks pretty good at first glance.

It finally installs and I'm ready to play and I get an error code that apparently everyone else is getting. No one can play.

EA Games, always making me rage.

Yes.

So I've played a handful of rounds, and Chief, though I far prefer an in-game server browser, the way BF3 does it isn't bad. Having it web-based is pretty cool and it's easy to find games, check out your clan, check on your stats/ribbons/etc. It needs some tweaks but overall, it could  be worse. It's inferior to an in-game system in terms of simplicity, but it is fine.

been playing Ryzom. It is Linux-native, runs well on my laptop(it came out 7 years ago, so i guess it should run well on anything), and is one of the best sandbox MMORPGs ever made. and its free till skill level 125 (of 250).

looking for other MMOs that my computer can run through Wine.

Hmm, I checked the Playstation store and I didn't see any way to download the beta.
