STORRS, Conn. -- The NCAA on Friday turned down the University of Connecticut's request for a waiver that would allow its men's basketball team to play in the 2013 national championship tournament.

UConn doesn't qualify for the tournament because of below-standard academic results, but it requested a waiver last month.

Maybe this is why the ACC doesn't want them

They wouldn't turn away a school because of a one year tourney ban. Maybe for more deeply rooted academic problems, if there are some.

We're beat to hell with injuries.

Sene is out at Center, and Harris, our second leading scorer just broke his hand so he's having problems. Really have to buckle down if we want a shot at making the tournament.

I was there. 2nd row of the student section. 2nd most amazing game I've been to behind Mason vs Villanova in Cleveland last year. The party in the student section didn't stop for about 15 minutes after the game winner. Madness in the Patriot Center last night. Too bad Mason has to play them @VCU in 2 weeks and probably @ the VCU Invitational (CAA tourney).

Harris is playing through his injury, but he only managed two points last night... so he might be doing more harm than good.

Since Sene has been out (eight games) UVA is -.33 in rebounding margin per game. With Sene in the lineup (17 games) UVA was +7 per game.

I hope. If somehow UVA can keep it together and get into the tournament, he would be a huge help.
