American University (Washington, DC)'s home opener vs Florida Atlantic at 7:30 PM tonight is NOT on the regular Comcast  SportsNet channel, but on their Plus channel.  It's 008 in Montgomery County MD.  They will televise 6 home games this season. See:
http://www.aueagles.com/sports/m-baskbl/2011-12/Schedule

AU is already 0-2 and lost 3 players to graduation.  6' 8" senior Stephen Lumpkins, the top rebounder and leading returning scorer, was drafted by and signed to pitch baseball in the minors for the Kansas City Royals for $150,000 this summer. AU doesn’t have a baseball team! Last year, Lumpkins was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 42nd round of the MLB draft, but did not sign. Yet, somehow, the lefty pitcher was selected 29 rounds sooner in 2011 after only playing six games with the Bethesda Big Train last summer (a summer college team). (Crap, I could have see him play! I had no idea he did this.) AU was out of scholarship money to replace him this late.  The NBA strike is probably going to have a lot of effects like this on college basketball. Lumpkins was 2-1 with an ERA of 7.02 in 10 outings with the Royals Arizona Rookie League team … Opponents hit .343 against the big left-hander before he was shut down three weeks before the season ended …

The Patriot League coaches' poll picks AU to finish 5th. They play Georgetown and Villanova in December. I don't have high hopes.  Their top scorer should be senior Troy Brewer of Gaithersburg, a transfer from Georgia. Brewer played high school basketball at Montrose Christian, which was nationally ranked in the top 25 in each of his four years. Brewer was named team captain and averaged 15 points per game during his senior season. In his junior year of high school, Brewer spent much of the season playing behind Kevin Durant, the NBA’s two-time reigning scoring champion.

N2P, you got an AU connection?

Nice research to that piece.

I'm pretty excited about the Terps bball future. This will probably be a frustrating season, but we have a nice class coming in next season. Hopefully we'll at least upset a few teams along the way. Faust could help a lot, he's supposedly a 3pt sniper.

Terps once again lack the bench to hang with a decent team.

And that foul shooting...

Still with the foul shooting? Where's Juan Dixon when you need him... It's gonna be tough year, but we got some good players on the way.

Sometimes, frequently even, he should pass instead of shoot.  Definitely has some nice game though.

American University Hosts St. Joseph's Sunday Night
Teams: American (6-2) vs. St. Joseph's (5-2)
              :woop: :panic:
Date and Location: Sunday, December 4, 8:00 p.m. - Bender Arena, Washington, D.C.
TV: Comcast SportsNet - Steve Buckhantz (Play-By-Play), Phil Chenier (Analyst)
Radio: Federal News Radio (1050 AM) – Dan Laing (Play-By-Play), Jeremy Huber (Analyst)

Comcast SportsNet lists is airing at 8:30 PM, but that is because of the Ravens post game coverage.  Comcast  SportsNet Extra is airing it at the start time, 8 PM..
(In Montgomery County MD, Comcast SN is channel 045, Comcast SN Extra is 008.)

Don't Buckhantz (Play-By-Play), Phil Chenier (Analyst) do the Wizards games?

RESULT: American U. 66, Saint Joseph's 60
Charles Hinkle scored a career-high 32 points for American University, which used some clutch free-throw shooting late in a 66-60 victory over Saint Joseph's on Sunday night. Troy Brewer added 12 points for the Eagles (7-2), who won their seventh straight despite yielding what was a 13-point lead early in the second half. [Note: Hinkle was 8th in the nation in scoring prior to this game, with a 23-pts/game ave.]

Carl Jones scored 13 points for Saint Joseph's (5-3), which saw a two-game winning streak snapped in the teams' first meeting in 19 years. C.J. Aiken, Ronald Roberts and Halil Kanacevic added 11 points apiece for the Hawks, who shot just 7 of 15 from the foul line and hit just one of their final five foul shots.
By contrast, American was 14 of 16 from the line, including 10 of their last 12 after St. Joseph's had pulled into a 51-all tie late in the second half after an 18-6 run.

Some poor sap got KTFO in the Xavier-Cincinnati game.

Cheap shot by a UC player knocked out a Xavier guy, cold, and they cancelled the remaining 10 seconds of the game.

I saw it but I wouldn't say it was a cheap shot. They were in the middle of a melee and he should've expected that a punch might fly in his direction. However, what should be the punishment? I think he should be suspended for a significant amount of the season.

Watched short-handed Xavier get killed again.

Baylor at WVU tonight is pretty interesting. Wish Cal at UNLV was televised, UNLV sounds good this year.

So impressed with ND tonight. Tough first conference game against Pitt and they have dominated. Shooting around 75% in the second half.

That game was unbelievable. I actually think Louisville was the better team, but go Hoyas.

The Hoyas played great for such a young team on the road. Wow.
