First Giro d'Italia stage in the Dolomites is today.  Nice scenery even if it's in low-def.  Saturday's penultimate stage finishes atop the Passo Stelvio, which will be some must-see mountain p0rn.

I imagine a lot of energy is wasted.

Those are total garbage.  Complete and total trash.

I'll have to set my DVR.  After watching the Belgium Badass destroy the Paris-Roubaix I'm pumped to watch more insanity.

So this Giro stuff is on Universal Sports (625 on DirecTV).  Live coverage starts at 8:30 or so.  Friday's stage should be big, Saturday's epic.  The race ends with an individual TT in Milan on Sunday.

By the way, I'm hoping that I'll be riding a new Felt road bike for the metric century in October.  :az:

Next stop should be the New Years Day century...33 laps around Hains Point.  The mental agony is way worse than the physical effort, prepares one for anything.

I'm actually a bit ticked that NBC Universal is not on my FIOS.  I get Versus / NBCSportsnetwork, so have been watching hockey recaps during the broadcast time for the Tour of Cali.  I learned to DVR the program that follows.

I got a Felt bike last summer (ZW95 Small in Pearl Purple) and I freaking love it! It's beautiful and it fits me really well. Every other bike I had tried really felt difficult to ride or misproportioned. Trek, however, had done their homework on women and have gotten the leg length/arm span thing down pat, which was really helpful since I'm short.

Got to ride it in a Metric century a few months later and it felt so awesome. Clipless pedals do wonders.

Welcome aboard!  My wife is pretty excited about the Surly Long Haul Trucker she's getting for our Pittsburgh to DC tourcation next year but looking at your Felt I think she might change her mind.  I helped two guys on the Mt Vernon trail the other day with a blowout and one of the d00dz had a super sweetass Felt that was ballin' out of control.  I'm really hoping I can shed another 50lbs by October so I can ride in the drops.

There's one of those for sale on Craiglist... a LHT, I mean.

Except hills. It doesn't prepare you for hills. ;)

Eh, we'll pick something up in March of next year when they need to liquidate old stock.  That's how I'm going to buy all of my bikes now.

Sure. I was just saying. I was actually kind of surprised to see something so specialized there.

I've actually talked to that guy before and, based on my conversation with him, it appears that he gets these bikes from auctions (in blocks) and from apartment complexes that switch ownership and dump abandoned bikes.  For what he's asking you're probably getting a beater that will get you from point A to B but have crap components and be a second backup, at best.

Well, that certainly sucked ass.  Between the clueless terrorists, err tourists, standing in the middle of the 14th Street bridge blocking traffic and the ice like road I'm surprised I'm not in traction right now with a broken leg.  I feel really good right now though, hopefully tomorrow will be less painful.

You didn't take a spill did you? More importantly - if you did - you didn't scratch that badass ride, did you?

Nah, the ride is fine, just super wet and dirty. The maroons on the bridge need a serious assthrashing though. Had I not been trying to improve my KOM time I would have thrown them into traffic.

That's the daily commute ride.  Slowly climbing the KOM ranks on the 14th Street Bridge.

I don't think I've ever ridden across that particular bridge.  I've biked across the other 3 bridges hundreds of times (I used to work in Rosslyn), and Roosevelt is the only one even worth trying during the summer when the visor and fanny pack brigade is in town.
