Rafael Bautista was also an all star for the Suns as a replacement. He went 2-3 with a stolen base and leads the SAL in stolen bases.

Correction...

I posted in the Nationals GDT that Syracuse had the best record in the International League.  I just checked the PCL (Pacific Coast League) standings and the Chiefs have not just the best record in the IL but the best record in all of Triple-A baseball.

WASHINGTON NATIONALS LEFT FIELDER, BRYCE HARPER TO REHAB WITH POTOMAC NATIONALS MONDAY AND TUESDAY; CATCHER, WILSON RAMOS BEGINS REHAB ASSIGNMENT MONDAY
Harper Nursing a Torn Ligament in Left Thumb While Ramos is Working Through Strained Hamstring

Woodbridge, VA—Washington Nationals have announced LF Bryce Harper and C Wilson Ramos will both join the Potomac Nationals on rehabilitation assignments beginning Monday, June 23rd.

Harper of Las Vegas, Nevada is slated to be in a Potomac Nationals uniform both Monday and Tuesday, June 24th, while the length of Ramos’ rehab stint with the P-Nats is to be determined.

Harper, 21, is on the mend from a torn ligament in his left thumb suffered on April 25th sliding headfirst into third base at Nationals Park following a bases loaded triple.

The left-handed swinging slugger was placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 27th and the transaction was retroactive to April 26th.

Harper, the number one overall selection of the Washington Nationals in the 2010 MLB Draft out of the College of Southern Nevada, is hitting .289 in 22 games for Washington in 2014. Harper has collected 24 hits, eight runs scored, four doubles, two triples, one home run, nine RBIs, eight walks, and one stolen base in three attempts.

Entering the 2014 campaign, Harper had already captured the 2012 National League Rookie of the Year Award to complement a pair of NL All-Star selections (2012 and 2013), and owned a lifetime MLB batting average of .272 with 50 doubles, 12 triples, 42 home runs, and 117 RBIs on his Big League resume.

Harper rehabbed with the P-Nats almost exactly one year ago from June 25th to June 26th following a left knee injury and went 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored, one double, one home run, one RBI, one walk, and one strikeout.

Ramos, 26, from Valencia, Venezuela is on the comeback trail from a Grade 1 right hamstring strain that was revealed on an MRI on June 10th and landed the catcher on the 15-day DL.

The 6-foot, 235-pound human backstop, collected an offensive slash line of .272/.307/.470/.777 during the 2013 season and collected nine doubles, 16 home runs, and 59 RBIs.

Ramos is swinging to the tune of a .261 batting clip in 24 games this season for the Washington Nationals while tallying 11 runs scored, seven doubles, one home run, and 11 RBIs.

On a separate rehab stretch earlier in the season, Ramos went 2-for-3 with the Class-A Hagerstown Suns on May 4th and belted a three-run home run at Municipal Stadium. On the current rehab track, with the Double-A Harrisburg Senators yesterday, Ramos cracked another three-run dinger at Metro Bank Park.

Ramos was originally signed by the Minnesota Twins as an international free agent in 2004 and was traded along with LHP Joe Testa in July of 2010 to the Washington Nationals in exchange for RHP Matt Capps and cash considerations.

Harper and Ramos are the seventh and eighth Washington Nationals to rehab with the Potomac Nationals in 2014 after RHP Doug Fister, RHP Ross Ohlendorf, 1B Adam LaRoche, 3B Ryan Zimmerman, LHP Gio Gonzalez, and OF Jeff Kobernus all made rehab appearances with the Carolina League Nationals this season.

The Potomac Nationals of the Carolina League play at Pfitzner Stadium in Woodbridge, Virginia, and are the Class-A Advanced affiliate of the Washington Nationals. The Potomac Nationals have claimed four Carolina League Championship titles (1982, 1989, 2008, and 2010) and eight division championships. Most recently, the P-Nats earned a 2013 Carolina League Northern Division pennant. P-Nats 2014 season tickets and mini plans are on sale. Sponsorship opportunities for the 2014 season and beyond are available. Plan your corporate outing now for the 2014 season to see the future stars of the Washington Nationals at The Pfitz as the P-Nats offer discounted group rates and all-inclusive picnic options. Visit the P-Nats online at www.potomacnationals.com or call the Potomac Nationals Ticket Office at 703-590-2311 for more information!

The four A-AAA feeder squads are currently 163W vs. 132 L.

Three are in first place in their divisions (Syracuse first overall in Triple A), while Harrisburg (30/43) got off to a bad start and is the weakling.
Obviously, we have some talent down there worth watching.

Severino, Pleffner, Renda, and Perez are all Major-league prospects IMHO.  That's a hell of a lineup for high-A

Many intriguing names. You can't forecast what they'll do, but Tejada, Pfeffner, Severino, Martinez could keep moving up. And the low A lineup is packed with high performing position players: Difo etc, not to mention the Nats' top pitching prospects outside of Cole and Syracuse. I'd like to see an updated ranking of prospects by someone who sees a lot of games.

Syracuse beats Durham.  According to the Durham radio announcer, this is the first time they've been swept in a season series since they've been in Triple-A.  Syracuse won all 8 games against Durham this season.

And Syracuse is 17 games over .500.

Pleffner looks like Adam Dunn, at least in appearance, certainly not statistically as the last time I checked he was hitting over .300 with something like 1 HR.  He's a big guy though, I assume the power will come.

Streaking Syracuse Chiefs winning at a clip unsurpassed in at least a decade

By Lindsay Kramer

on June 23, 2014 at 3:40 PM, updated June 23, 2014 at 4:51 PM

Syracuse, N.Y. — The Syracuse Chiefs return to NBT Bank Stadium for an eight-day homestand on Tuesday playing their best baseball in at least a decade.

After beating Durham 7-4 on Monday, Syracuse has won seven straight and is racing along at a 47-30 clip. The team is 36-16 in May and June, the best record in all professional baseball.

According to Chiefs broadcaster Kevin Brown, Syracuse hasn't been 17 games above .500 since at least 2005, and perhaps even longer. The Chiefs began the day with a 4.5 lead over Rochester in the International League North, its biggest division lead in at least nine seasons.

At the start of the season, officials from the parent Washington Nationals promised more depth at both the major league level and throughout the organization. That would allow prospects to mature at a slower pace in the minors and also keep key veterans contributing at the Triple-A level to produce a competitive club in Syracuse.

Roughly halfway through the season, that prognostication has been spot on.

"You have real major league depth at every position. That's really what the difference is,'' said Mark Scialabba, director of player development for Washington. "Pretty much everybody from top to bottom is contributing. It's a mixture of talent, really.'

And almost as important as the Chiefs' won-loss record is the entertainment value of their product. Syracuse's batting order puts on its own in-game fireworks show almost every night and can quickly reduce deficits to a speed bump.

Entering play on Monday, Syracuse was hitting .270 as a team, good for third in the league. It paces the IL in on-base percentage (.348), is second in slugging percentage (.402), fourth in runs (354) and fourth in homers (57). The Chiefs have hit 49 home runs in May and June combined after popping just eight in April.

Outfielder Steven Souza Jr. could be the IL's mid-point MVP, leading the IL in batting average (.355), on-base percentage (.448) and slugging percentage (.563).

Infielder Zach Walters is nearly as hot, ripping away with 10 homers and 31 RBI in just 34 games with the team. Third baseman Brandon Laird is on a streak that earned him IL batter of the week honors on Monday.

Catcher Jhonatan Solano leads the team in RBI (40) and justifiably leads Triple-A All-Star fan voting for his position. First baseman Tyler Moore keeps banging on the door of the bigs with a .333 batting average and 14 RBI in 19 games.

Infielders Will Rhymes and Emmanuel Burris are two of the best catalysts in the league. Outfielder Destin Hood (.316) can resume his pursuit of IL rookie of the year honors once he returns from a wrist ailment.

"This group together seems to be having some fun,'' Scialabba said. "When you have success, it can bring team chemistry.''

7,804 announced at the Pfitz yesterday.

I would have had pizza delivered if I was hungry.

Anyone know if you can tailgate before P-Nats games? I have only been to a couple and I can't remember. Looks like gates open 1.5 hours before Saturday games, do the lots open at the same time? Not looking for a huge tailgate, just have a few chairs, some food, and drinks if possible.

Past outperformed future -- barely.  Marquis pitched seven shutout innings.  Hill allowed one run in six innings -- a home run by Grady Sizemore.

Not sure about grills and the like, but you can definitely picnic ( we usually go to the grass by an empty field to let's the kids run around), not sure about alcohol either - we're discrete so that we never have learned the policy
