I don't disagree that the timing was bad but we don't know whether Riggleman has been working with Nieves on that very play (no one would expect it with Nieves at the plate) and Nieves just failed.

It was a tough pitch to get the bunt down. That's the tough thing. As the 8th hitter, you have no idea what to expect with the pitcher due up.

Complaints aside, one thing Riggleman has established now is that regardless of the guy in the box or the guy on 3rd (we've had the following combos: Dukes-Hammer; Nyger-Morse; Nieves-Dukes) with a guy on 3rd and less than 2 outs, the squeeze could be on. He should really not do it for the rest of the season and see if he gets success with a counter strategy.
