Regarding JZ staying, it is still a mystery what the talk was. With Kennedy on deck, they had a chance to get that out or get him out of the game as long as Burroughs doesn't go yard. They better not have let JZ argue for staying in. It's a learning situation for sure. JZ needed to be careful there at all cost and wasn't. I wouldve yanked him. But if he is going to get tested, hopefully he learned something.

Welch didn't mention the "as a Nat" part?

Well there's an obvious subtext here.  Carpenter was showing his ignorance of Washington baseball history by crediting Expos with accomplishments that occured elsewhere, while superior feats had been performed right here in Washington.  Welch is ever vigilant.

You're wasting your breath.  SF is a moron who refuses to acknowledge that the Nats were shut down by a pitcher who has shut down a lot of teams this year.

This can't simply be a loss against a superior pitcher - it's a season-defining, rebuild-crushing loss that will set back the entire franchise for years.
I know, I know...

Ah, ok.  I had it on mute because I was listening to dirty pinko hippy political videos (and I can't stand Carpenter).

This can't simply be a loss against a superior pitcher

He wasn't superior tonight and a player who hadn't hit a hr in 6 years hit one and we're being shut out even though our best hitter (or 2nd best) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and didn't get the call.

this is a special kind of loss.

Kennedy is not a superior pitcher.  He had a superior lineup behind him, however.

Do we put up a fight here or do we die quietly and without a struggle?  :?

and hadn't hit a HR in the Majors in 6 years.

Maybe because he wasn't playing baseball. He's also not a HR hitter. Neither of these facts makes him a dino.

Burroughs's homer was to commemorate his Little League World Series appearance.

You know the movie the crying game? That tranny that you can't tell is a tranny because you're ablittle drunk so you mosey on over to "her" and take a shot?  That's kind of what its like

Around here, "The Crying Game" was when Manager Frank Robinson reacted that way post-game,  after being forced to remove catcher Matt "Beer Truck" LeCroy mid-inning, because the entire other team kept stealing bases off him, at will.
