If Olsen fails or one of the starters gets injured, I hope Martin gets a chance. I think the team should move him to the bullpen after the season. He can be effective than Bergmann in that role.
I think everyone we have as a starter could be better than Bergmann(referring to Mock, Baletser, Stammen but don't want to give up on them just yet).
That's the attitude that's the problem. It's not giving up, it's contributing to the Nats. Service time is service time regardless of how you pitch.
Yeah but when I say give up on them I mean as a role for the rotation. I think they'd be solid as relievers. It seems they all, usually, have a good inning or two. Maybe a conversion would make use of that?
kobernus is 4-for-5 tonight with two rbi's and a double and he's batting .563 in his 4th game with hagerstown.
Now you are cooking. Multi inning relievers are money.
Jeff Kobernus collected 4 hits in 5 at bats including a walk off single tonight.
Wow, second runner thrown out this week by Eury Perez. Apparently he has a pretty strong and very accurate arm. One of the plays was at home, the one today was a runner trying to stretch a double.
Hood also threw out a runner at 3B from RF.
Yeah, I knew Hood had a cannon, he had a few outfield assists last season in Vermont, but I had no idea Perez had such a good arm.Sucks about Meyers, what is that like 5 of the top 30 prospects that are already on the DL?NorrisEspinosaJamieMeyersMorris
My boys Kobernus and Hood are tearing up SAL pitching, wonder when they'll get bumped up to Potomac.
My guess is Kobernus could be moved up to Potomac as soon as this month. I don't see Hood going anywhere for awhile, he is still struggling with laying off pitches in the dirt.
As for Hood, the k's are a bit disappointing (14 ks/1 bb), but that's expected because he is raw. I love his other numbers though: .351 AVG, 2 2B, HR, .486 SLG.
Yeah, not saying he isn't showing a lot of promise, but the fact that he is so raw is going to be one of the main reasons the Nats move him so slowly up the ladder.
Agreed. I think he'll see Potomac maybe in late July/early August if he does well. I'm really excited about his future and I think the FO really thinks highly of him.
Not sure he'll get to Potomac this year. I can see the Nats treating him like they have Burgess or Norris. Give him a full season to show he's ready and then promote him to Potomac for the 2011 season. He's still young enough that it would make sense to do that
Brian, any impressions of the Lombardozzi kid?
