Bye bye powerplay. This team plays so damn dumb. Reminds me of Boudreau days except without all the goals.

Way to work it around Caps.   Down by 3 with 2 minutes left and you're workin' the puck.   Please Joe B., quit gushing and the dumbass PA announcer is using his best DJ voice to announce the score w/assists.

Wolski looks like a good pick up. Hustles and has skill. Johanson has picked up where he left off. Fumbling pucks, turning it over, being pushed around. I think ovie will get it going. He is playing hard and getting his one timers on the pp.

I doubt that there is an NHL team that has had as much competitive playing time during the lockout as the Caps have had.  Maybe the Canucks or Red Wings.  But in any event, you certainly wouldn't know it.

Is it the new system that's causing this or what?  They look downright uninspired and like a team without an identity.

New Coach, New System, and very little time to practice both.  They are playing faster but not smarter!

My memory is foggy but didn't the goal get a lot of playing time in Hershey before the season started?

Yeah, Holtby was in Hershey.  The rest of the team though wasn't necessarily playing all that time. Some of the lines are new.

Still amazing to me that the Caps have taken a generational talent in Ovechkin and destroyed him. Backstrom is well on his way to this and will get there, too.

In 3 years Ovy will be on another roster and will win a Cup somewhere else, while Ted and McPhee continue yet another rebuild. Maybe with this rebuild we will have a blue collar team again and not a team of players who don't try for 45-50 minutes a night.

It's sad I miss the days of the 05-06 team that gave 110% every night but had no talent. Please come back, Chris Clark.

I thought they had a good first period at even strength. It looked like they were playing the new high pressure system and going end to end. I think they wore out. Dale's system probably didn't require being in as good shape. Now you are taking out of shape guys and playing at a high tempo.

I honestly hope Ovi eventually goes somewhere and wins- being labeled he best to never win isn't something he deserves

That's the way it looked to me. The looked gassed and confused before the end of the second period.

I was talking to a friend of mine (a diehard Flyers fan :spaz:) about Ovie last night and we were both in agreement that he seems to be playing like he's holding back.  Why that's the case neither of us could agree on (he said he's playing like he's afraid of hitting too hard, I think he's injured) but he doesn't look like the same guy that was hell on ice a few season ago.

Can we all agree that not seeing Semin in a Caps jersey is a good thing?

Now that's a fight.

Fail to see what there is to fight over. Big boobs are big boops.

I think Ovie is just being expected of too much. He should not be on the kill at all. He can't really create his own shot. He's basically a big hitter with a monster slap, and the ability to skate well, but not handle the puck.

Ovie should be getting like 10 one timers a night.

ovie creates his own shots just fine. not as much as in the past. so he has a lot of almost created shots that fizzle. a lot of guys can't even get to that point. tied for fifth in the league last year while playing without anything close to a 1C for half the season. ovie streaking down the wing one on two is still a good scoring chance. he doesnt have the success like he had in the past. but i dont think there is anybody else in the league as dangerous in an one on one situation. his shot is lethal, even though it hits too many shin pads nowadays, and he can power through you or juke around you. some guys might be better at juking but they dont have the other tools to keep a defender honest

ovie and backstrom seemed to have better shifts when johanson wasnt involved. hope to see ovie and backstrom with wolski tomorrow. or maybe hendricks.  johanson was basically useless last night. worse tha playing shorthanded in the offensive zone because you thought you could pass to him. better to just not have that option

He also crushes defenders against the boards so hard it makes my teeth shake in the 400s.
