Now it seems like the Dempster trade isn't happening.

True. I normally don't want to be that guy that posts about right thread/wrong thread but since he/she's a new poster, just letting em know.

It's she and thank you!

sloanxavier - welcome!  If that's an academic history, then

We try to keep non-nats stuff in this thread so it does not get buried or mixed up. It's a tough call sometimes, like this one, where there was substantial board debate about whether the Nats should deal for Dempster.  If you want to add any background (up to you) there's a thread in the clubhouse stickeed at the top for "welcome new posters - tell us about yourself."

Hello all. I have been reading this board for a quite some time and finally decided that I should join. I grew up in Brooklyn and was a Yankee fan for quite a while but since the Nats arrived in Washington, I have a new love! Thanks for having me....

 ;)

Omar Infante and Anibal Sanchez to the Tigers. Fire sale in Miami!

Yeah not happy. Sanchez was in his walk year and Infante isn't long term.

In their place they get a potential ace that could foil the Nats for years to come.

Sure hope he's more Andrew Miller and less John Smoltz.

What am I missing? From what I read, Jacob Turner's health is supposed to be a major question mark, his fast ball is in the low 90s, and his secondary pitches are "very much in-development". Seems like a fair number of the articles seemed to think he'd top out at as a #3 starter at best.

Seems like the Tigers are cashing out on a has been #1 pick before the bottom falls out.

The Yankees have acquired Ichiro Suzuki for RHPs DJ Mitchell and Danny Fahrquar, a source said. Yanks also get undisclosed cash in deal.

YeahI heard that about Ichiro.  Will be a free agent after this season anyway.  Possibly just a rental to take Gardner's place.

We dont play Detroit in interleague next year do we?

Nice.

(Linty, among a few others, know why I'm happy about Ichiro.)

It is a pure rental to replace Gardner, but the price is dirt cheap.  Kind of shocking, actually.  He could dominate in New Yankee with the dimensions.  I would suspect he plays left in Yankee Stadium and right on the road.

Pirates have lost two in a row at home to the lowly Cubs. They won't win the division but should be in the mix for one of the wild cards.

Which is the story of the year, IMO, in baseball.  Would love to see the Pirates in the post season.
