He's pitched pretty well in his rehab stint. Maybe he can come back up here and help us out without the pressure of being closer. I'd look for him to get the call and Wang DFA'd this week.

Rodriguez may be Winston Abreu 2.0

Sure would have been nice if someone had properly prepared for the game yesterday. Could have gotten a sweep.

As long as we go 15-70 or better the rest of the way, we will not be worse than the '09 Nationals!

Note: the 1925 Senators won their 45th game on June 30, beating the A's 7 - 0 with Walter Johnson pitching. This game put the Nats into 1st place, a half-game ahead of the A's, at 45 - 23. Bucky Harris (the kid), 2B and player-manager for the Nats; Connie Mack managing for his A's. I think Connie Mack had played for the older Nationals sometime in the mid 1880s. Bucky managing a team with seven players hitting over .300, if you count Johnson, who was went 2-for-4 that day, and had seen his BA drop to .393.

No injuries to the '25 Nats...you can see the same starting lineup game after game. The 2012 team is something special.

Just got back home from Atlanta! It was a scorcher today, but well worth it to see a Curly W!

And a cool story. I was sitting right near the press box and could see the Nats guys easily. So I tweeted FP and told him where I was and within seconds he was looking out of the pressbox for me. I yelled FP, and he gave me a thumbs up and said Go Nats! It's a small gesture, but in 104 degree heat it made my day a little better. FP's a good dude I feel like.

Great win though. That Zimmerman homerun was just a BOMB.

Definitely seems like a great guy.

Quite the departure from Dibble, personality wise.

Very true. He's awesome. I noticed that he pretty much stands up the whole time. It was cool to watch them and see their reactions.

It was seriously hot as hell today. But what a great day to be a Nationals fan. We move to 45-32, and have 3 all-stars chosen!

Sorry mates, haven't been able to keep up with these because of the power outage - hopefully I'll be able to keep them up steadily from here on in:

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 45th win, each season:

2005 - 28th June (76th match of season)
2012 - 1st July (77th match)
2011 - 6th July (88th match)
2006 - 26th July (101st match)
2007 - 28th July (104th match)
2010 - 30th July (103rd match)
2008 - 21st August (128th match - snapping 12-match losing streak)
2009 - 25th August (126th match)

---

THIS DAY WITH THE '05 OVERACHIEVERS: After sweeping a home series against the Pirates, the Nats open an away series at Chicago with a 4-3 win - Livan goes to 12-2: http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=250701116...record now 48-31.

---

Mystics joined the party with a 90-77 win over the Phoenix Mercury at the Phone Booth this afternoon, in front of a surprisingly good-sized home turn-out (power-outage refugees, some of them, looking for some A/C anywhere?).

Thanks for the roadtrip update!  Glad you had a great time.  I got a wave and a smile from Gio in Boston as I passed him on a Fenway Tour.  Interrupted his interview.

Maybe thats how FP caught that ball in Boston.  Because he was standing up!

Good game, glad we won. Had the strangest dream, was afraid it was a bad omen. Usually never dream about the Nats, but today for some reason I had Gio dropping dead of a heart defect due to the heat. Freaked me out when I woke up.

Nice to see he gets win 11, and it is insane he is now 2 wins ahead of Stras. Crazy.

As an amateur psychologist, I'd say you transferred Strasburg's heat exhaustion from Saturday onto Gio in your dream.  Glad both pitchers are fine and both are going to the All-Star game.

got that right. I think we have the best division record (within our division that is) still. :D

By a slight margin - our 16-9 in the division is just ahead of the Mets' 16-11. Marlins are 12-13, Phillies 10-17, Braves 9-13: http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings/_/type/vs-division

EDIT: Ranked by W/L percentage:

Nationals - .640
Mets - .593
Marlins - .480
Braves - .409
Phillies - .370
