Sure, everyone could see that Burroughs, being the 50 home run guy he is, was going to hit one out if JZ stayed in the game.  It was so obvious.

so what explains it?

Calling the 8th right now.

Zim - Single to start off the inning
Morse - Strikeout
Werth - grounds into double play

It's not JZ's fault the offense sucks but why must he always piss his pants at the end of his outings? Or is Davey just pushing him too hard/not looking out for the team's best interest?

Maybe he wanted JZ to get the win and left him in there to finish up the inning. :?

The Answer is clear:

Pitiful. The Nats don't want to be good. They want their fans to suffer. No excuse for not putting games like these in the bag. We are so close to something good but they pull sh*******t like this way too often.

Doesn't matter who's up. JZ ran out of gas. He's done the same thing all year

I bet no one on the Dodgers predicted Lannan's home run last month.

They don't have anyone with PC or SF's prognostication skills.

2-0 to a playoff team that they beat yesterday is not that bad

it's the way they lost.  so many freakin opportunities.  but the dogcrap offense that needs tons of help in the offseason for next year let us down AGAIN.

Baseball is a game of failure, even for the Phillies. This team is still pretty decent.

There aren't too many pitchers that don't run out of gas at some point.

On the walk, the ball was about an inch outside, and the call could have gone either way, or the batter could have swung.  Same pitch could have had dramatically different outcome.  But I'm sure you could see into Zimmnn's soul and could tell he was gassed, even with an out in that situation.

Same old crap. Just when you think they've turned a corner they turn in a game like this. Not a good team. Mediocrity is thy name.

Davey prevented the game from being tied but we still wouldn't be winning because of the crap the offense laid out there tonight. Unacceptable

yup.  and zimmerman was called out on the same pitch, imo.

Baloney Bob. Record for HR by rookie is 30 by Bob Allison. Where did "Coco Laboy" play?

Have you watched JZ pitch this year? He's melted down in the 6th-7th quite frequently. It's not a coincidence, it's a pattern.

You're going to say that now after the weekend the Nats just had?  Seriously?
