Zambrano's self-declared "second season" is going much better than the first. The right-hander decided he was starting over on June 6, and since then, Zambrano has gone 4-1 with a 1.43 ERA. He's also struck out 20 batters in his past two starts. In his last game against the Rockies, Zambrano fanned eight and gave up just two runs on five hits over six innings.

Michah Bowie was scheduled to make this start, but he was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Monday with mild synovitis in his left hip. Redding, who has gone 9-5 with a 5.32 ERA in 17 starts at Triple-A Columbus this season, has not pitched in the Majors since 2005, when he was with the Yankees. He's 2-4 with a 3.44 ERA in 11 appearances against the Cubs over his career. General manager Jim Bowden indicated that Redding got the call because it was regular turn to throw, but he gave no indication if Redding will stay with the team. If he does, Redding will pitch against the Brewers on Saturday. Redding will become the 10th starting pitcher for the Nationals this season, tying the Phils for most in the NL.

Predictions?  I somehow doubt we're gonna hang 4 on Zambrano in the first frame this time :?

i agree with spider...I don't think either Zambrano or Redding will give up many runs, and it will come down to a bullpen game

also anyone think redding looks exactly like Dan Kolb?

That's a flimsy limb you ventured out on to.

I don't care if he looks like Kolb as long as he doesn't pitch like him.

Well I guess we should be glad it's just one so far...  we need to get on the board fast and often though.

How large a crowd do we think will be at RFK tomorrow?

Tangentially related to attendance, I was thinking that the Nats should force people who buy tickets to "premium" games to buy an equal number of tickets to non-premium games.

Yes, that's extremely sleazy but you gotta pump up those ticket sales!

That's precise. That's actually bad for a 4th of July game on GW Bobbleheads. But then again I don't see much interest in going to see this team right now.

Let's go Nats. Let's take this lead.

I get what you're saying PC. I hate that 'premium' game BS.

Church isn't seeing the ball as well as he was early in the season.

Ryan Church swung at ball 3 and 4.  He's supposed to be on first, right now.
