LEGO has a project called Cuusoo that allows people to submit ideas for sets to be voted on. If an idea gets 10,000 votes, it will be considered for production by LEGO. Someone has made a LEGO model of the little Android mascot.

http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/22758

Go vote for it and tell other people about it too.

Free trial, and I'll end up paying the 3.99 if I still like it in a few days

Just got a Google Nexus 7 and I'm realizing what a morass the world of tablets can be. Apparently Adobe isn't making flash player available for Android 4.1, and I wouldn't care except I kind of need that for certain images on my school's website. :?

I've come to the conclusion that android blows, apparently a common flaw with the sg3 is a corrupted clipboard,  if I want to copy and paste,  I have to either root the phone to delete a single file (an enormous pain in the assignment using mountain lion) or do a factory reset- an enormous pain in the ass.

Don't blame Android for stupid mucked-about-with bloatware-infested manufacturer-tinkered iterations of it.  All the same, you might as well root and get clockwork mod installed so you can start trying out custom roms.

CynaogenMod 10 is in nightly stage now for my phone so I've been using that.  Running the 8/31 nightly now, the only issue so far is with my Weather channel widget.  Whenever I open the app from it, it uses the GPS to find my location.  All fine and good, but the other day when my phone died with an hour to go in my work shift, I realized that it never actually turned off.  GPS was on for 11 hours, killing the battery.

It just annoys me that to get admin access to my phone,  I have to jump through hoops and void my warranty,  and that I need admin access to do basic stuff like back up my phone

What are my benefits for rooting my phone? I've looked into it briefly but it seems complicated and I'm not sure why I'd need to do it.

The complexity varies by device.  Rooting allows you full control over everything.  For instance you can delete manufacturer installed bloatware apps that are locked there without root.  You can modify system settings.  The biggest thing, though, is custom ROMs

Custom ROMs based on the Android open source project code (AOSP if you see that and wonder).  Some are just small tweaks to a stock android, some are heavily modified.  One you have root installed and clockwork mod recovery installed, installing is simple.  Just format /system, /data, and /cache, wipe the dalvik cache, and install.

They can get you upgrades past what the phone manufacturer supports.  For instance, I THINK Chief's phone stopped at 2.3 (Gingerbread) but he was able to get 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and 4.1 (Jellybean) by installing CyanogenMod 9 and 10, which are based on android 4.0 and 4.1, respectively.

My phone hasn't upgraded to 4.1 yet either but I have it through CyanogenMod 10 as well.

I just bricked my NFC chip.

Simple factory reset.did it. Fml.

Which means that now my google wallet app is irreversibly broken. Only thing i can do is get a new phone.

warning: completely disable the google wallet app before doing a factory reset to avoid my fate. Wish i had known.

Verizon won't even allow you to install it.

I'm thinking about getting a Nexus 7 tablet.

I don't blame them- either they would have to disable factory reset and people would howl,  or they would have to provide a replacement device every time they have to reset
