Gameday Thread: Nationals @ Astros, Game 3(L)
« Topic Start: April 09, 2006, 01:29:52 PM »

Ryan Drese, RHP (0-0, -.--)

Drese, who will face Houston for the fifth time in his career, is 0-4 with a 5.40 ERA against the Astros. He takes the rotation spot of Pedro Astacio, who was put on the disabled list on Saturday because of a right flexor strain. Manager Frank Robinson indicated that Drese would have made the rotation had he not started the season on the DL. Drese didn't start throwing in a game until March 24.

Andy Pettitte, LHP (0-1, 13.50)

Pettitte struggled with location in his first regular-season start, giving up 10 runs (seven earned) over 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the Marlins on April 4. Although his velocity was good, he struggled with his command, leaving balls in the middle of the plate that the Marlins feasted on. The left-hander is 2-0 with a 2.39 ERA lifetime versus Washington. Last year, he allowed two runs over eight innings in a win against the Nationals.

Eh, Drese can be great when he's "on."  But if he's not, they're going to bomb the snot out of us, especially in that juicebox of a park.

Is there any kind of pre-game show on MASN?

exactly.

when Drese is on, he's a groundball machine.

when he's not, he's a launching pad.

You guys might notice the board no longer asks "back to post or back to forum?" after you submit a message.  Instead it takes you directly to the thread.  It's a little tweak that I thought I'd try for today's gameday thread.  If everyone hates it I can change it back, but I figured that for most people, this will save them a click.

Sort of like Zach Day...I liked Zach Day, though.  I got to meet him, he was really nice.

Personally, I like it better like this.  Thank you.

Edit:  I will continue here as to not make three posts in a row...

Weird lineup today.

Day really loved being in DC, I got to talk to him a few times last season before he was traded.

he pitched a pretty strong 7 for the Rockies last night too.

Well that's a nice way to start the game, Marlon.

Now let's see if Drese can prevent the Nats from having the snot hit out of them, as an earlier poster said.

Nice job, Soriano!!

That is WELL DONE, capitalizing on the bad baserunning of Willy Taveras.

(but dude, I thought that was going  out...)

Fonzie with the double!  And on another 0-2 count!

If this keeps up, Bowden's gonna look like the most undeserving genius of all time.
