He could have gotten the runner out at second easily

I'm a big fan of shortening an inning,  but it seemed like they blew that chance to turn 2.

Seems like Desmond should have gone to third.

again pujols was blocking his view and all the momentum was going towards first base ... you want him to throw across his body and toss the ball into the outfield or 2nd row?

oh god here we go again ... or he went for the sure out ... if he rushes that throw and it goes over espinosa's head you're killing desmond.
It wasn't a hard play to go second base. He had plenty of time. Holliday was walking. He wasn't close to the bag when Desmond threw to first.

Lannan looks like crap for 3 games and gets out of all of them with only one run.  Then he finally looks good and gives up 2 runs in 4 innings.

Baseball is a funny game.

well this is the best line-up he's faced in some time.

Agree.   Pujols had stopped running.  Desmond had plenty of time to stop, turn and throw to third.

Cost us a run.

He shortened the inning. It's a quick decision, and in that situation, you need to get an out. It does make you wonder what the communication on the field was like there since it did seem he could have gotten one of the lead runners and potentially turn two.

he stopped running to block the view of the ball ... it shouldn't be that hard to comprehend.

4th   Y Molina grounded out to second, A Pujols scored, M Holliday to third.

Cardinals  2
Nationals  2

And another RIGGED president mascot race [YAWN]...

Yes.

It would not have been a "throw across his body."   Exactly the opposite.   It's a throw away from the body.   A catcher picking a guy off of first does it all the time.   Or a right-handed firstbassman throwing to second base.

Again, these are major league players.
