And to think -- it all started with 2 outs and the bases empty . . .

Right, but I mean the offense and the bench. 27 outs of opportunity to score.

The bats still concern me. Yes, Morse is re-habbing, and once healthy he changes the complexion of the lineup. The bench depth is nice. No more Matt Stairs, Brian Bixler, Pete Orr.

haha, that's amazing.

I do like his improved patience this year though. Hopefully he sticks with it.

Someday Desmond will be first Nat to make all three outs in an inning if the experiment continues. :?

Carroll and Tracy are really good. I think we need to play Carroll in LF till Morse gets back.

The jerks at BOTH ESPN and CBS will not post the 7th run... for 5 minutes...
8th   S Lombardozzi reached on infield single to shortstop, B Carroll scored, R Bernadina to third, W Ramos to second.

Nationals 7
Cubs        4

Mattheus was obtained for Beimel, right? That was a good trade.

Old Bob Prince (voice of the Pirates) used to call it "two out lightning".    I'm sure others have too but I didn't live there  ...  :)

What a steal. He had just had TJ surgery at the time of the deal too.

That was good scouting on Rizzo's part, I will admit that.

I am inclined to agree with you. I like DeRosa, but feel he is not an everyday player. Better as utility/bench.

In Beimel's case it was a fan.
