I always had a soft spot for the 'Skins way back in the 80's, even though I adopted the AFC Browns. The more I warm to the relocated Expos of Washington the more likely I am to adopt the Skins as my favourite NFC team.
That was a golden era for the Skins - I remember seeing guys like John Riggins, Joe Theisman, Dexter Manley, Darrell Green, Art Monk, and of course 'The Hogs', guys like Bostik, Grimm and Jacoby. They were a fun team to watch - yeh, we get the NFL in the UK too folks!!!... every week Monday Night Football... have done now for 20 odd years :-)
And one thing that sticks in my mind ~ what a golden-era for NFL coaches back in those days too - Joe Gibbs, Tom Landry, Don Shula, Mike Ditka, Bill Walsh, Bill Parcells, Dan Reeves, even may I say it Marty Schottenheimer at the Browns!!!
I'm not sure the NFL has anything like the same characters today as it did then, most coaches seem pretty sterotyped and uninteresting to me, with none of the flamboyance of guys like Ditka.
