Milledge is pulling his head a lot and not getting good contact at all.

Earl Williams, Piazza, Matt Nokes, McCann, and Fisk are a few that I know of that started their careers off on a high note. That's good company for the most part.

You forgot Johnny Bench. Check out his 1970 season when he was MVP at 22.

Absolutely. I'm sure there are a lot more, too. Quite a few of 'em fizzled out after a few years, though.

Edit: Yeah, that was a money season.

Technically Lannan has only given up 3 ER.

Technically, we have a hitting coach.

But we're still losing 5-2.

We're awful. Kendrick owns us.

At some point you have to stop saying that about him. That fact cannot be changed so it could still be used 10 years from now. Are you willing to make the same excuse for WMP?
I'm saying if you compare his numbers to a Mike Piazza, it would be very comparable. Jesus is on a terrible team, and has no protection.

Mike Piazza's 1st 616 ABs (part of '92, all of '93)

.313 BA, 27 Doubles, 2 Triples, 36 HRs, 119 RBIs

Flores' 1st 391 ABs
.266 BA, 23 Doubles, 1 Triple, 11 HRs, 70 RBIs

If you take Jesus' numbers out to 606 ABs you would have:
35 Doubles, 2 Triples, 17 HRs, 109 RBIs

Jesus is doing that with no protection, and a terrible lineup. I'm not saying he is exactly up to Piazza's power numbers yet, but he will be an amazing catcher given the appropriate lineup.

Are you freaking serious? Our defense tonight has been disastrous. Belliard should have ate that ball.

The Dodger team lost 100 games in '92 and was .500 in '93. You act as if that team was the '27 Yankees. That team had Lenny Harris on its roster.

He just needs to get better at throwing out runners. 9 out of 42 (worse now, I think) is pretty bad. His offensive numbers should be fine.

Blame our pitchers for being the absolute worst imaginable at holding runners.

John Lannan tonight:
WHIP 2.12 (H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E)
EDIT: ERA 9.53 (H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E)
7 K's

I swear, Lannan looks like a silent film era actor.

exactly, if you can't hold a guy on base, how do you expect him to throw him out?

He would have had a quality start if the defense backed him up. He was bad regardless though.

I'm sure other catchers deal w/ the same stuff, but they throw more guys out.

Our pitchers are unquestionably the worst in the league at holding runners.
