Fans' Choice Bobblehead in 2016
« Topic Start: February 11, 2016, 02:08:25 PM »
So the Nats have a Fans' Choice Bobblehead Day coming in 2016.  The only rule is that the player can't have had a former bobblehead issued.  It's actually slim pickings because Scherzer is coming this year.

The only "every day" players that I can see are:

Gio
Papelbon
Joe Ross
Trea Turner
Ben Revere
David Murphy

I'm guessing somehow Papelbon wins as a joke.

Gio is due.  He'd make  a great bobblehead with an enormous grin and maybe a syringe of HGH.

How about Shawn Kelley and his horse head?

I was hoping for a talking doll with a string or a button that when you pull or press it it says, "That's a Clown Question Bro" or "Where's my ring?"

Gio got one already.

Apparently they're giving out a Dusty Baker one as well. Too bad it won't be able to top this one:

I'd like to see a Michael Taylor bobblehead or a Daniel Murphy.

Oh wow, that Dusty Baker bobblehead is amazing!

With the departure of many of our veteran relievers, this really is a tough one. I love Joe Ross and look forward to his development in 2016, but I don't think he's proven himself as a bobblehead-worthy yet. Michael Taylor has also not proven himself as an everyday major leaguer yet - but it is undeniable that Michael Taylor has a big fan following in Washington and would be a big threat to win any fan choice vote.

When is the vote? There's any number of bench players or newly-acquired starters who could be competitive if they get hot right before the vote.

My vote would be to pick one of the minor leaguers with talent, then sculpt a tiny TMo with albatross wings and tie it around their neck.

The fact the we're struggling to come up with a name is maybe an indication they give out way too many bobbleheads. Don't get me wrong. I collect them all but I really don't want a Joe Ross bobblehead just yet.

I think it's more the restriction that it has to be a player on the team that hasn't had one before.  There were a lot of really creative suggestions for the PNats Fan Choice bobblehead and there's a lot of overlap in the fan base, but no such restriction.

Anyway, Loby Gatorade Goggles FTW!

There have been a lot of really crappy bobbleheads.  Span was the last decent one IMHO.  I still gave mine to a kid.

Besides the Strasburg debut game, last years bobbleheads were pretty bad. 2014 produced some great ones. The Harper, Ramos and Span ones were great IMO.

The JZimm No Hitter bobble from 2015 is totally great.

Yep, I got that one sittin' on the end table.    He's over there with Dimitri Young.

My fave bobblehead was Chad Cordero...though it was a victim of a swatting cat from atop the fridge and wound up looking like Venus de Milo. Another board member in a different part of the country became the next custodian of Venus de Chief.

Dimitri has no arms either.   :)    May have been a design flaw for the early bobbleheads
