I believe 2016 is actually a leap year, so all of these dates need to be adjusted.

Why the hell do they keep starting the year around the 5th of April? We're gonna have another year where the last series takes place in October and the World Series could roll over into November - kind of defeats the purpose of that whole "October baseball" saying don't you think?

Every 4 years, a day is added to the calendar - usually at the end of February. For example, April 1st, 2016 will actually take place on March 31, 2016. Pretty neat.

It has to do with Einstein's theory of relativity. I'm afraid it's difficult to explain to a layperson. I suppose I trust that the new commissioner is aware of this.

Planning a west coast trip for 2016. Hoping to catch the Nats 2/3 times @ SD and LAD.

Never too early. Too bad KC does not come here.
Doesn't bother me any. Gonna try and hit that series and maybe a couple in St. Louis before it. I was hoping they'd play in Minnesota, though. Buddy and I had planned to meet up there for that series if they played there. I'm a little suprised they scheduled it that way since the Nats played in KC the last time the central came up in the rotation. In fact, in 2013, the Nats went to KC and saw Minnesota and Detroit come to DC. Only Chicago is flipped. That seems odd to me.

What a bad idea to have a day off on a Friday.  I get the whole idea of having an off day scheduled after the opener, but this sucks.

The whole idea of open days in April seems dumb--and then in July/August they will likely have many consecutive games with no day off.

Yeah, Nats and Marlins are only teams in MLB off today. There are way too many off days early in the season.

How else are they supposed to make the season last 'til November?

Were there any other home openers yesterday?
