Amazing what happens when starting pitchers throw strikes and don't walk people.
only 2 walks by Nats pitchers over the last two games.

Our offense still isn't scoring any runs but the starters are giving us a chance.

Stammen has walked just 5 batters total over his last 5 starts and has a 2.60 ERA over that stretch.

Suck it Mets!
this put the final nail in their season.

Their fans are apoplectic.

If we ever field a Major League team the Mutts will be in the NL East Cellar for the foreseeable future. Their ML team stinks other than Wright, Reyes, and Santana and their farm system is garbage.

If you watch boxscores, the difference between winning and losing over the long haul is the walks on offense and defense. Last night, Lannan walked nobody and that kept the team in the game. The offense won the game because Perez walked our batters. Walks kill - defensively and offensively.

As well they should be. They just lost a series to the worst team in baseball.

The sad thing is that the Mets may actually feel the need to dump Omar, and that may improve the Mets as an opponent in years to come.

Omar = the Mets version of Jimbo.  ;)

Great game. A little random but we are second in the majors for releivers used in a game behind the Mets.

Still, it's nice to have the Mets briefly draw national attention for their suckitude, so we can scurry back into the shadows for a little while.

Before dealing the Hammer, I hope that the Nats FO considers that he is a natural LFer and is tailor made to hit jacks to the LF power alley/bullpen when at home.

The solution to that problem is DON'T DEAL HIM!

I would trade Dunn before I would trade Willingham.

Yep. Too bad Rizzo said Dunn is not going to be traded. I would deal him in a heartbeat for the best package.

I'm not arguing that Dunn isn't a great value for us. That's the point. I love Dunn. But the FO has declared that they believe he is a DH, so he is not a long-term play. He's a great value for us now, but that is what makes him a great value for others. With Willingham able to play LF, dealing Dunn to a contender (and eating his salary) should be bring back some choice cuts in return. The guy is having a great year.

But why would he be worse next year?  The Nationals, likely will be in the same position they are right now but, by not trading him until next year, they don't contribute to the idea that signing with the Nationals, as a free agent, means that you'll be shipped off six months later.

You become the Arizona Cardinals of Major League Baseball as far as a destination for free agents, the pre-Super Bowl Cardinals, that is.

Both are fat for the fire. The right deal comes along, I'd have no problem parting ways with them.
