By the way, that was a truly nice play by Desmond to snare the line-drive by the first hitter this inning. The Kid has reflexes.

Yes! That's good baseball. Especially when the Nats win with late runs.

That reminds me of 2005.

Not only did we beat the defending World Series champions 3 games to 1 (should have been a sweep), the games were started by every starter from that World Series series.

We didn't get the 5th starter!  Who the hell is Ryan Vogelsong anyway???

can't question this teams heart, however even with Zimmerman we don't have enough big bats in the line up to win games consistently.

Sheesh, we just took three of four from the defending world champions and got back to .500.

I'm happy about that, i'm just saying if we want to continue winning because even though they're the defending champs they pretty much have no hitting themselves.

I got to listen to the eighth and ninth on the way home from rehearsal.

Good job, boys.

Outstanding way to finish the home stand after losing the first two.

I have a feeling we really sneak up on phils/fish/braves on this road trip.

I wish I shared your optimism.  I think our best chance at a series win is in Atlanta but I fear we'll be swept in Philly.

Missed the game thread, busy watching the game with family. That being said, best win in a long time.

Looks like we'll miss Johnson in Florida.  If we weren't so snakebitten vs. Florida, I'd actually say that our best bet would be in Florida.  We should be getting Hanson, Hudson and Beachy in Atlanta.  If we can find a way to steal one in Philly, that would be great.  I think Werth will have a huge series in Philly.

Last 5 games he has looked very good on D.

Yeah they said that before the game...that was his only complete game shutout...could've made it #2 last night.

One never knows though...a few weeks ago the Nats swept three from the Brewers, who the next day went to Philly and took two of three from the Phillies (including a 9-nil romp in Game 2 of the series with Halladay starting).

Anyway...

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 14th win in each season:

2005 - 2nd May (26th match of season)
2010 - 4th May (26th match)
2011 - 2nd May (28th match)
2008 - 4th May (32nd match)
2007 - 16th May (40th match)
2006 - 18th May (41st match)
2009 - 24th May (44th match)
