The '69 Mets had great pitching, and a mediocre field lineup. The Cubs, on paper, were a better team...and the Cubs had battled the Cardinals in '67 and '68. Ernie Banks, Billie Williams, Ron Santo, Glen Beckert, Don Kessenger, Randy Hundly, Ferguson Jenkins, Ken Holtzman. Mets caught them, beat them, and then beat the All-Powerful Baltimore Orioles.
This team has a better and deeper lineup. Seaver and Koosman were special, though.
