flores is fine as a backup.  not as a starter.

need to get a starting pitcher too if they are indeed shutting down strasburg.

It's still crazy to think that we would have Werth and Ramos in our lineup.

Catcher is a defensive position.

Why take away a guy who's been very consistent defensively back there? Let's not screw up the mojo.

he can't throw anyone out.

If only throwing base runners out was totally on the catcher ....

Anyway, who is available that would be an upgrade?

Jesus Flores is the problem?

No.

I don't think so either.

That's not all defense is about.

I am mindfacting I've read or heard Nats writers say our pitching staff this season is saying screw it about base runners and is focusing completely on the batter. Although it sounds like a load of crap, it is interesting last season our catchers were fantastic throwing guys out and this season even Ramos went from really good at it to shaky.

Okay once again, Flores is fine as a backup.  But he isn't an everyday guy.  We need to let Solano to get some more starts or make a move.

I can go with this. I like Flores and the pitchers seem pretty confident in how he calls a game. There's something to be said for that. Solano on the other hand seems to be a little better with the bat, and should definitely be considered Ramos' back up next year. Let's get him more playing time.

A couple months ago there was a Flores > Ramos campaign.

As long as a catcher is hitting above the Mendoza Line, then I couldn't care less about their hitting performance.

It is ironic. But Ramos could barely catch the ball to save his life

A few drops and people acted like Ramos was trash.

Flores proved all of us that were on the Ramos side in the Ramos/Flores debate correct.

Which is not exactly setting the bar high for Ramos.

Did he ever have his second surgery? I worry about Ramos coming back.

Jesus Flores this year .230/.272/.348, wOBA .262, wRC+ 60 (league average = 100*), 0.2 WAR in 53 games

*this means, basically, that Flores generates 40% fewer runs than the average MLB player
Does that include positional adjustment?

A few? He was costing the team runs and outs. Ramos was blah behind the plate. Flores is blah with the bat

You're over estimating Ramos's struggles as a catcher due to confirmation bias.

Nice to see Nationals fans talk about picking up players at the deadline, been a great season for your fanbase and your club.

Nothing better in sports then a winning baseball team

Kelly Shoppach is certainly available.  Mostly plays v. LHP.  some pop, having a pretty good year, and can throw.

I'd trade Shoppach for Flores/Solano and Lannan/Duke/whatever other non-important arm.

What would the Red Sox be looking for in return?

From your favorite fanbase, Philadelphia.

Maybe now that we are not so good we can lose some of the bandwagon fans.

Any Idea how much longer Werth is out for?
