Why did they have the #7 hitter bunt? Wasted out...if Hairston doesn't do anything, we don't score...

ron darling and keith hernandez on the mets broadcast just got a little dig in on riggleman for doing this

3 wasted hits already and we only have 9 outs left possibly. A 1-0 loss after 5 innings would be devastating

This is why Riggleman sucks and so does the offense. They make it so hard to score runs!! :hang:

The Mets will do everything they can to get through 5 with they 1 run lead. A shame we couldn't tie it. Another embarrassing winnable loss

It is an immutable fact that this team will never get better with Jim Riggleman as the manager!  He calls for sacrifice bunts at the worst times, more than any manager in baseball!

we've had a runner in scoring position both innings and failed to get him in.

That wasn't Hairston's fault that was Riggleman's fault because Espinosa should have been swinging and not bunting.

Hairston still didn't do the job.

Incompetent ESPN refuses to acknowledge that this game was started.  CBS Sports recognizes it though

1st Bay hit sacrifice fly to left, Reyes scored, Turner out at second.

Nationals  0
Mutts      1

NEW MLB RULES:
1. If it does NOT rain, cancel the game 3 hours in advance.
2. If if rains, play the game.

But if Espinosa had been swinging, we would have had two chances to drive the run in instead of one.  You should never sacrifice bunt in that situation.

Exactly. I don't get why some people are always looking to absolve the players of their responsibility.

I'm more than willing to blame the players but I want the manager to make all the routine managerial decisions correctly, ALL OF THE TIME.  That was a particularly easy decision for Riggleman and he got it wrong.
