Shin-Soo Choo is an interesting option for me. Might cost something significant up front but would likely get you back a 30-40 slot pick in the 2014 draft when he declines a qualifying offer.

he has a high of 21 SB and has managed at least 10 most years with the mets, so he's not exactly big papi

Who are the targets with that mindset? I don't think they have to be cheap, just not in line for long term deals, and obviously ALR if no one backs the truck up would fit

- I openly ask as most of you seem to have a better grasp on the rest of the league

I don't think any lefty hitting FA we'd be satisfied with would come here on a one year contract, with the possible exception of Melky.  I'd be much more focused on guys with one or two year contracts that teams would want to deal to get some return.  Two names I think might be available would be Choo and Kubel. Choo does not has some power but less than ALR, while Kubel is a poor fielder.

Trade the farm for Upton and Bauer.

On a serious note, Bauer would be awesome to have.  He probably needs to get rid of 5 pitches out of the like 20 he throws.  Make him a 4-seam, curve, change, splitter guy.  Add in the slider a bit later.

I believe the reason bauer could be on the block is that he is very adament about his extreme long toss program whiich consists of pre-game throwing from foul-pole to foul-pole.  The d-backs probably want him to alter his routine and he is very adament about not changing it.

 Two reasons why Arizona will listen on Bauer: 1) Avg. astball velo was 92.2 mph, less than in college, and 2) His willingness to adjust.

Then the Diamondbacks need a new front office. Bauer was up front about his program before being drafted and if they passed on Bundy thinking they could alter Bauer they shouldn't be involved in decision making of any sort,  including paper or plastic.

Look if the D-Backs want trade Bauer, I'm definitely down. I see him as Lincecum in that he'll be great for a few years and then fade. But even so, we'd be getting those great years and he'd be a free agent towards the drop off.

Question is, what do they want for him?

I'm still not convinced they trade Upton. Just way too much potential there. He'd have to be HATED by the team/ownership for that to happen.

Because they dont' like his conditioning routine. Mainly long toss. It's a rather convoluted arguement. The Royals tried to talk Bundy out of it when they came to visit him before the draft.

Wang was merely an investment of money. And not really a whole lot. Bauer would be an investment of more money and players we'd have to trade.
