Um...ok. I don't think that's what I (and Ed Bott and many others who've mentioned this) am doing.
Breaking the story all the way down, starts with the massive change from one version of Windows (3.1/7) directly to another (Windows 95/8) followed by very strenuous complaining. That's the "connection" as you call it. It's not a technical connection or features connection or anything like that.
The link I posted from Ed Bott was posted by him in direct response to the complaints about Windows 8. Again, he's not the only one who's done this. Other Windows technorati have mentioned/posted things like this about the change from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95 in their discussions of Windows 8. I think I did exactly what they did or, at least, that's what my intention was. Did I do something different than they did? You're the first person I've read/heard mention "logical fallacy" in doing it.
