Not at all.  Props to the FO and all involved in getting these signings done.

Now, instead of 21 cast-off hopefuls, we actually have prospects back in our system.  Throw in guys like Marrero, Carr, etc. and we are looking a whole lot better than in seasons past.

If MLB really wanted these guys to sign at the slot they would either be like the NBA and have the rights remain with the team that drafted them for the rest of eternity, or they would have it so clubs would be fined $1 for every $1 over slot they spend.

Good call Dave ... I just read the Ladson article and that information seems very incorrect ... Svrluga has posted over the last couple of days that the baseball guys went to the Lerners asking for more money to sign these guys and it was agreed to ... I'll take Barry's word over Ladson's anyday

not so fast

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/nationalsjournal/

The guy sounds so confident but then jumps the shark with "...McGeary could well end up at Stanford" as if to cover his ass if he ends up dead wrong.

Interesting stuff on the politics of it all and interesting points about Zimmerman and his MLB Third Base leading (tied) errors.

11:59....we will see what happens.

The Lerners should tell baseball that signing Smoker is financially prudent because it might fill a need cheaply for six years that would otherwise require a high priced FA.

Do it Lerners. Grow a pair.
