Am I the only one who feels bad for this kid?  8 years to get to the majors and he's getting shelled, this team continues to break my heart.

I'm kind of numb to all of the pain now. Nothing surprises me anymore with this team.

I felt bad for him for a second. But he really hasn't looked THAT bad, IMO. He just has to learn that he won't get away w/ as much as he did down in AAA. He's still throwing strikes, but he needs mix it up a little more at this level.

I don't know if you are the only one (I have a feeling nancy-boy would agree with you) but I don't feel bad for him at all. He seems like nothing more than a career minor leaguer so far.

Figures, Olsen will be gone until sometime next season.  :hang:

I feel bad that this team won't play one freaking decent game this season, and I feel bad that I'm still listening to this crap and posting about it, and I feel bad that crappy frozen pizza gave me a stomachache.

Kearns is playing!?!?!?!?! What brought that on? Are the Nats conceding this one?

I wish it was like Tavarez where they put him out there one more time, so that he could prove to everyone he hasn't got it, before cutting him.  But unfortunately, the team seems enamored of carrying Kearns on its bench.

Problem was, they didn't pull him when they saw he didn't have it, and my day was ruined :bang:

I just don't understand their fascination with Kearns. It's like they think he's gonna wake up tomorrow morning suddenly knowing how to hit. It's never gonna happen.

He used to know how to hit.  How can somebody who's been playing baseball his whole teen and adult life, suddenly forget how to hit a baseball?

I see all the posts ridiculing Bowden for the signing, but at the time it appeared Kearns was going to be a fairly solid offensive outfielder on top of his more than adequate defense.  And we could sure have used a hitter like that in the lineup.

Nobody predicted this complete and utter collapse, nobody.

Agreed. It's a complete mystery as to why he suddenly doesn't know how to hit. I was bigtime in favor of that trade at the time. I really thought Kearns was gonna be a steady performer for us.

The Cubs are currently getting shelled by the Phillies.  So not surprising.

Kearns peaked in HS. He's been downhill ever since his rookie season.

It's that damn stance and swing. I can't believe no one was ever able to talk him into tweaking it. He doesn't get the bat around quick enough about 90% of the time. So frustrating.

They have tried but he clearly does not want to change. He probably thinks at any time that swing will bring the glory days of HS back. His swing is entirely too long and he cannot identify inside pitches in the strike zone.
