I felt bad for him for a second. But he really hasn't looked THAT bad, IMO. He just has to learn that he won't get away w/ as much as he did down in AAA. He's still throwing strikes, but he needs mix it up a little more at this level.

I just don't understand their fascination with Kearns. It's like they think he's gonna wake up tomorrow morning suddenly knowing how to hit. It's never gonna happen.

He used to know how to hit.  How can somebody who's been playing baseball his whole teen and adult life, suddenly forget how to hit a baseball? 


I see all the posts ridiculing Bowden for the signing, but at the time it appeared Kearns was going to be a fairly solid offensive outfielder on top of his more than adequate defense.  And we could sure have used a hitter like that in the lineup.

Agreed. It's a complete mystery as to why he suddenly doesn't know how to hit. I was bigtime in favor of that trade at the time. I really thought Kearns was gonna be a steady performer for us.

They have tried but he clearly does not want to change. He probably thinks at any time that swing will bring the glory days of HS back. His swing is entirely too long and he cannot identify inside pitches in the strike zone.
