I heard on the radio last night that, coming into this series, the Giants were 70 something and 1 (74?-1) over the last 2 seasons when leading by 3 or more runs. So, in this series alone, they lost twice as many games with 3 (or more) run leads than they had in the prior 2 seasons combined. When you look at that, combined with the pitchers they beat, the conclusion is pretty stunning. Even though a small sample size, those 2 facts, taken together, are either incredibly coincidental or extremely impressive.
