I know it seems like forever ago, but's it's only been 5 weeks.

On July 3 we were 50-31 after sweeping the Cubs in Wrigley and had a 5.5 game lead over Atlanta in the NL East (9.5 over Phila).  Also, we had an 11.5 game lead over the Astros.

I didn't expect us to keep up that pace, but I never thought we would go 9-24 since then.  What a collapse of epic proportions.  If we simply would have gone 16-17 in that same time we would be 66-48 and tied with Atlanta in the divsision, but still up at least 5 game in the wild card chase. (It's to really impossible to determine how much we would have been up since we played the Astros and Braves)

Mind you, 16 wins would have sounded very realistic considering we had home series's against the Mets, Astros, ROCKIES, Dodgers, and slumping Padres.

Oh, I feel sick.

I am the cause of this downfall.  On that very day I changed the background on my desktop from a photo of the first pitch being thrown in RFK to one of a lightning bolt hitting the Washington Monument.  I am convinced that I was the hex that caused Joe Hardy to leave town.
