How did he become a "DH type"? His progress seems to have ground to a halt due to injuries.
I'm not sure. He's not a great defensive 3B, not bad, but not great either. He probably could move to 1B or the outfield if he needed to. I know he was speculated to do that before the Royals let Teahen get away, but since he's gone, they might let him work it out at third.
