I've lived with the cold (and done a fair amount of walking anyway) but ice and snow not cleared from public sidewalks is a drag. Sidewalks in front of businesses are clear. It's the ones that ought to be the City/County's responsibility that are covered. :(

No. My mutt does fine in any weather, but I'm betting one of those high performance dogs would have a much more difficult time.

he's a rescue, so I think he may have been defective  :D, near zero percent body fat, huge chest cavity and thin hair make cold weather a bad thing for most sight hounds

And, perhaps, these... all kidding aside, these look awesome. The last time I went for a hike in the woods with the dog, I kept having to scrape these little snow/mud dingleberries off his feet (hair between the pads, WtF?)

Editor's Note: I probably shouldn't have said dingleberries: I am imagining the pictures that Blue might post... sigh.

Editor's 2nd Note: I probably shouldn't have said hair between the pads, either.

Mine too.  Or at least make it on a Sunday or sometime when I don't have to go to work.

When I visited my Dad a year ago, I remember doing some tidying up shoveling on 1/19 before my flight home and thinking, "This may be the last time I shovel out a house."  He was selling, and I was living in an apartment.  Now i'm buying a condo, and the thought occurred to me while I was looking, "do I buy one in a big building an underground garage and a snow contractor to do the clearing, or do I buy a garrden style one where I have to shovel my car out on the street?"  I went the wimpy way.

And there's a power outage in Manassas due to the ice.

And it's back as I'm headed out the door to watch the Caps at a pub.  20 wasted minutes there.

The fog is intense, but the sidewalks are all iced over again.

1-2" with the higher accumulations nearer the Mason-Dixon line.

I don't want 6-12"  I'd rather have a bunch of 3-4" snows than a few huge ones.  I can drive fine to where I need to get in 3-4" but much more than that on the road and my bumper starts to become a plow
