They're called cement mixers for a reason. They spin but don't move. Baez just put a hell of a swing on it. It was high which didn't help but it wasn't hung.

It moved. It starts on the inner half and ends up on the outer half. That's a hung curve ball. It curved, but not enough.

#14 on Keith Law's new Top 50 prospects. #6 Pitcher... Was #21 in the Pre-season Rankings. Notable that Dylan Bundy and Hunter Harvey were 12 and 13 respectively..

Between low pitch counts and a prohibition on his two-seamer, Giolito is still pitching with shackles on. But what he shows is solid -- a fastball typically 94-96 with some downhill plane and a plus curveball, grade 65 or 70, with depth and tight rotation. He's a strike-thrower with control over command right now, and the changeup is still a work in progress. His arm strength, size, and possession of an out pitch give him top-of-the-rotation upside, but I don't think we'll see that potential in full until he reaches AA.

Giolito is a competitor on the mound, and you can generally see the emotions on the rubber. He wants to be perfect out there, but he does not let it faze him when somethings does not go his way.

He needs to work with Strasburg.

Seriously, based on this report, he could very well arrive at some point next year, and he's likely a full-time starter in 2016.

So looking at 2016 we've got Strasburg, Gio, Giolito, Cole, and hopefully JZ still.

Not there to prove anything. There to build up his arm

He could do that in Viera. Let him face better competition if you're going to throw him out there.

The one "hit" was a slow roller to 3rd. Apparently, the ump missed the call: http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140726&content_id=86291982&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb&sid=milb

Giolito is there simply to build up arm strength and stamina. No need to move him. He only has 30, maybe 40 innings left before he gets shut down. No point in changing anything. He's still young for his level and it's all about development. His BB/9 is trending down and he's working on developing his change. He's in the perfect place to do all of the above.

No, do it at lower intensity where it doesn't matter. We are NOT rushing this guy. I'd much rather him spend more time at lower levels anx greatly reducing his chance of injury.

Giolito ranked #11 on MLB's new list of top prospects. #2 Pitcher, only behind Taijuan Walker. Talk about moving up the boards...and all this from his spot in Low A. He'll be Top 10 & the Top Pitcher in the Minors next year. If he stays healthy, there 's no telling how good he can be. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/was/lucas-giolito-remains-atop-washington-nationals-updated-top-20-updated-list?ymd=20140727&content_id=86568354&vkey=news_was

Maybe it's a typo, but that link makes it look like Giolito dropped to 44, and that Fedde is our #4 prospect.

Fedde is listed as the #4 prospect, but the preseason and current ranking are flip-flopped for both Giolito and Cole. They both improved on their preseason rankings.

Here's a great video on Giolito:   https://sports.vice.com/video/lucas-giolitos-million-dollar-arm-trying-to-make-the-majors
Great video. This kid is quickly becoming my favorite nats prospect ever. I really hope he puts it all together and becomes the next big time MLB ace.

He's going to be so good for us in 2016. Hopefully we still have some other talent by that point.
