I don't get back until late Sunday night from my honeymoon.

Well damn, congratulations man!!

I don't get back until late Sunday night from finding and renting a place in Dallas, so I'm missing this game no matter what.

Nats play at home Wed., Thur., Fri., so your tickets are for Thursday.

Outstanding !!!   I'll head out of town Friday morning.

the Corleone Effect

I don't know if Columbus day makes afternoon baseball more attractive in NY, where it is a holiday (same I guess is true for the federal gov't center, I suppose).

Would they do a 1:35 start (wednesday) for a playoff game?  Or by afternoon we're talking about 4pm?

Oh man, I hope we don't play during the days on Sunday. I think I'm going to the Redskins game. I would obviously pass that up for the Nationals game but it would be cool to go to both.

Sunday has 4 games, so figure 1, 4, 7, 10 (roughly).  Figure the 7 and the 10 are NYY at Wild Card Game 1 and Cinci at SF game 2.  Just a guess - they avoid the conflict with the Redskins game and play at the wild card around 4.  Also, since St L played Thursday, no conflict on Sunday if it is Nats at St. L.

SNF is Chargers at Saints, so no issues.

Monday night is Houston at Jets.  You may see the NYY game in the afternoon.

Well, whatever time they are, I'll be there if I have to suddenly come down with ebola and guinea worms.

Interesting that both Detroit and Oakland have bye weeks in the NFL this week.  I don't know if the NFL schedule will play into things at all, but if it does, we'll likely be in the 2nd game.  Also, I think the Yankees are a big enough entity that when the Jets play will not factor into the decision much, especially since the Jets are terrible and New York might want another sporting option about midway through the first quarter...

The Saving Grace about that is you know Fat Joe will stick his fat face into the situation if a call at a base is blatantly wrong - he won't wait for some smug ego-maniac-asshat to shake his head "no" when he needs to ask for help

How does Marvin Hudson get a playoff assignment?  He's the worst umpire I've seen this season, especially at first where he appears to just guess on close plays (and some not so close plays) and usually guesses wrong.  He's not much better behind homeplate.

Is he good otherwise and just terrible in Nationals games?

Possibly it's seniority (he's been in the MLB morons-in-blue-crew since 1999).

He's blown other big calls too, so I have no idea how he got a playoff assigment.  Hopefully the rotation will work out so that he doesn't get a turn at first base, which is where he seems to blow the most calls.  MLB might as well just stick Bob Davidson, Alan Porter, CB Bucknor and Laz Diaz on the crew as well

Poll on Post's DC Sports Bog about Sundays Nats-Skins conflict - http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/wp/2012/10/05/redskins-vs-nats-who-are-you-watching/

What's your plan for Sunday's games if you're watching both?

Redskins come first - 27%
Flipping from Redskins once Nats game starts - 56%
Getting another TV - 9%
Going to the bar - 7%
