Gameday Thread: Nationals vs Mets, Game 2 (L)
« Topic Start: April 12, 2006, 03:53:35 PM »

Pedro Martinez, RHP (1-0, 6.00)
Martinez was hardly sharp in his first start Thursday night against the Nationals -- five walks and three hit batsmen in six innings, what a jackass. But he made it through, throwing (like my sister) 96 pitches after throwing merely seven innings in Spring Training. Now he gets another shot at the Nationals, the team he has beaten merely four times in 13 career starts. And the Nationals may be gunning for him after his hitting three batters Thursday.  When asked about Jose Guillen's remarks prior to the game, Pedro said "That guy is f***ing crazy."

Tony Armas, RHP (0-1, 3.60)
Armas will face Mets for the 11th time in his career. He is 5-3 with a 3.34 ERA against them. It will be Armas' second start of the season. In his last outing, Armas pitched five solid innings, but it wasn't enough as the Nationals lost to the Astros, 6-1, in front 26,978 fans at Minute Maid Park. Armas gave up two runs on three hits. He struck out three batters and walked one. It was arguably Armas' best start since the start of the 2003 season, when he was free of shoulder problems.

I really hope there is a SUPERFIGHT, because we're gonna stink with or without Guillen, so he might as well get suspended entertaining us.

Well I see we're not wasting any time tonight

I guess I take it back now that we're out of the half without giving up any runs.

You do realize that after every game my postivies list was getting shorter and shorter, now it's to the point that the only positives left are Vidro and the fact that no key person has been injured...yet!! I'm signing out to watch the rest of the game, I hope Guillen beats the daylights out of Pedro...or accidentally lets his bat slip in his general direction!! PEACE

Gotta say though, Armas didnt make a bad pitch that whole inning despite two baserunners. He broke beltrans bat, which happened to find the hole between nick and vidro (any time you break someones bat you threw a good pitch). And then delgato hit softish ground ball that found the outfield.

Looking good though!

Yeah, he's GOT to hate RFK.  That would've been an "in your face Pedro" homer just about anywhere else :?

Well that last pitch was very close. I wonder if he was afraid of accidentially hitting him or something? His control was excellent before that.
