Good at bat by Carroll. That's why Jimbo never should have traded/sold/gambled him.

tonight is a must win...you can't go into the astros series with a 2-5 home stand.

must win?  those days are over - davey ended the must win games in less than 2 weeks.  the games are now truly meaningless

CWG says fairfax has gotten nearly 4" of rain today alone.

There is a river now in my backyard and there is a pond behind my neighbor's house.

They weren't there before today.

Pitiful showing by Storen

I know this is blasphemous to say here, but I never really was convinced that Storen is a "closer" in the traditional sense.

he really isn't a closer at this point - maybe just a little too young but he's in that role because Rizzo drafted him so high.  Clippard should be the closer and Drew should be allowed to mature into that role.

He was a closer in college. He was drafted to be a closer.

11 games under .500.

at this rate we're almost spending a $million dollars on every win of the season :lmao:

he's just not at that level yet.  a decent manager and GM would know that.  unfortunately our GM is a glorified scout and Davey should be playing golf.

When you take a reliever that high in the draft you let him close otherwise you took a reliever (as opposed to closer) in the first round

I think the traditional closer route is going MR to SU to CL?

Storen's just fine as a closer, very good, actually.  But he can't go with as little work as he's been getting and be expected to be as sharp as he is when he's working consistently.  And, like many closers, he's better with the lead than when it's tied or we're trailing.  Kid's only 23 and to be as successful as he's been already in the role is pretty impressive.

I think that they are looking ahead ( evaluating inventory) to 2012 and not waiting for ST.
