Just heard it on Channel 4 news!

Non-Emergency Employees must notify their supervisor of their intent to use unscheduled leave or unscheduled telework (if telework-ready). Non-emergency employees have the option to

1. use earned annual leave, compensatory time off, credit hours, or sick leave, as appropriate; 2. use leave without pay; or 3. request to use their flexible work schedule day off or rearrange their work hours under flexible work schedules.

Telework-Ready Employees who are regularly scheduled to perform telework or who notify their supervisors of their intention to perform unscheduled telework must be prepared to telework for the entire workday, or take unscheduled leave, or a combination of both, for the entire workday in accordance with their agency's policies and procedures, subject to any applicable collective bargaining requirements.

Emergency Employees are expected to report to their worksites on time unless otherwise directed by their agencies.

I want to say thank you to all the feds who teleworked and didn't show up today. As a result, my commute was about 15-20 minutes quicker.

Federal teleworking means responding to emails on the Blackberry while sitting pool side.

Feds with scheduled leave today lost out unless they were able to cancel the leave request and "telework" instead.

I went in.  66 wasnt to bad for once!  Just because its easier for you to take leave, doesnt mean you HAVE to take it!  You still have to subtract it off your leave balance.  All it means is you can call in and say due to road conditions, or house conditions you cant come in.

Honestly, if I were allowed to schedule the meetings, I would.come in to work maybe two days a week. Hell, half the time those meetings are conference calls. I could just call in on the work phone.

Let's just hope we don't have any more power-outages-combined-with-heat-waves over the next few weeks...I'm set to be off Tuesday 10th (Mystics annual day match) and Thursday 19th (Nats-Mets).

That having been said though...GOTTA LOVE THAT GOVERNMENT LEAVE!
