Non-alcoholic Drinks
« Topic Start: November 05, 2010, 06:27:50 PM »
This thread is NOT for beer, wine, or liquor (sorry blue, Ali, Mathguy, tomterp, et al.)

This thread is for soft drinks.  Not just soda, but anything that doesn't have alcohol, like tea and coffee, or if you're SF, whole milk.

So my friend just had Turkish coffee and says it's awesome.  So, has anyone ever tried to make it at home?  How do I make it?  What's the secret?  Do you eat the grounds at the bottom :spaz:

I doubt you eat the grounds.   Sounds either strong or spiked like Irish coffee.  Of course I'm not much of a coffee drinker.  HOT Chocolate yea!  With mini marshmallows.  If I can't have it home made, I like the pigs of Land O Lakes!

The put the coffee, sugar, and water in this little pot and boil it, but I think they might boil it and cool it a few number of times in some recipes.  When they pour it into the demitasse, the grounds are still in there.  You are supposed to wait a little bit for them to settle to the bottom, but I've heard some people spoon them out and eat them.  I don't know if I'd like that.

I find the taste distinctly inferior to Wink.

They serve Cheerwine at the PNATS games.

Thanks for that link.

OMG they have Peach Nehi.  That used to be THE drink (in a non alcoholic way) with my group of friends in college.  They also have FROSTY ROOT BEER!

Not so old, they have Canfield's Fudge diet soda.  Makes a great Ice Cream float.  I know it defeats the purpose of being diet but still!

I remember a citrus soda, might have been lemon, that I used to really like.  I can't remember the name of it now, though.  I kinda think it was sold in Coke machines.  I wonder if they still make it.

No, it wasn't Mello Yello.  This was more like lemon soda, it came in a yellow bottle, it may not have been a Coke brand, but I always bought it from a Coca Cola machine.

Go to Atlanta and take the Coke tour.  You end up in a room with the many flavors of soda that Coke makes depending on country or region.

Or try looking here:

There's Citra and Fanta (Fanta has many flavors)

Winner!  That was it!

It was changed to "Fanta Citrus" and now "Fanta Grapefruit"

Then you've never tasted "Weis UP!" the best damn soda you can buy for $2.25 per 12 pack

Weis does have awesome generic soda, like Diet White Birch Beer.

I like the Diet Orange, personally.  I've never had Birch Beer in my life, though.

All soda?  I don't drink much HFCS stuff anymore, but I do occasionally have the Sierra Mist Natural and Pepsi Throwback, which are sugar sweetened, and I drink a crap load of diet soda.

Hey, we should have a thread about sodas and tea and coffee and other such soft drinks.  Oh wait :P
