Updated as of today, 7/30

We have given out FOUR 5 stars based on performance.  They are David Frietas (VER), Randolph Oduber (GCL), Tyler hanks (GCL), and Blake Kelso (VER)

We have given out THREE 4 stars and they are Jeremy Mayo (GCL), Justin Miller (VER), and Neil Holland (VER)

and we have given out ONE three star, Colin Bates (VER)

These are just our subjective opinion.  We will continue to update this throughout the season of course.  And as always, thank you to WNFF for letting us post this here.

Did we really draft Martinson in the 5th round and Leonida in the 6th round? :spaz:

I would have rather them drafted long shot  to sign HS players with college committments.

cheap bastards. LAC. What a bunch of crappy, signable selections.

I favor College players to HS players but these guys suck and were drafted for their cheapness.

New low for you.

Saying college players suck less than half a year into their professional careers.

Congrats, you've broke the internet record for being an ass-hat.

Then again, it makes perfect sense.

21 and 22 year olds are way too old for you to love them. You only want the jailbates to be your boys.

I can't really judge since im judging on stats but Leonida is apparently a defensive catcher, but 6th round? that's a bit early, I dont know where he was projected to be picked before the draft. As for Martinson, we need to give him time.

These guys don't need time. Clearly they are bums and they should have already been cut.

There is no such thing as an organizational player. They're all either stars or bust. Period.

Its too early to judge these guys, but lets just assume they were signability picks.

Ill take them along with Harper, Solis, and Cole anytime. You simply have to make some conessions somewhere. The team went high upside high risk with 3 of their top 4 picks. Harper and Cole are teenagers with huge price tags, and Solis is a draft eligible sophomore who could return to school.

As for Martinson ... He's struggled, but Im intrigued by him. He played a little college football. You have to be pretty athletic and have some decent speed to play there, even at a lower level. He's a guy who was unheralded, but seems to have the physical talent for upside. Im not upset at the pick, or at how he's playing so far. I wouldn't judge too many people on their numbers immediately in their first season. Let's see how they perform next year before truly starting to gauge their value. As hot as Freitas and Oduber are, I guarantee you they come down to earth a bit next season. On the same token, some guys like Martinson and Keyes may clear a hurdle and step up next season.

We added quite a bit of talent, and let's give them some time before truly starting to knock a pick.

Don't worry about SF. He's an assclown that expects results right away and doesn't understand how baseball works.

Everyone else here is a lot more open minded when it comes to letting prospects develop.

Martinson needs a day off.  He's started and played every inning since July 5th or something crazy like that.

Leonida is not getting playing time.  In part because he's dinged up, in part because David Freitas is batting .400

Blake Kelso is an excellent contact hitter.  He's probably more of a middle infielder, but he's getting a lot of time at 3rd base since King got called to The Sally.

Most of these NYPL teams have the bottom 3 or 4 of their order batting between .150 and .210.  Hitting has not been the issue for Vermont.  This is a good hitting team.

Wade Moore is the best outfielder I've seen at this level with the glove.  Balls that get into the gap on other teams, get into Wade Moore's mitt.  It's astounding.  And he's starting to find his way with the bat.

Thanks for the report. I'm curious to know if Keyes is injured? He maybe isnt since it looks like there is just no room for him now.

Nothing yet. Sounds like the lines of communication are still open between them

At this point, it's down to four guys to watch (Harper, Solis, Cole & Ray)

Brian did a bang up job detailing every HS player drafted by the team. What a total disappointment.

I was applauding your digging deeper, safe original statement, and retraction update, to be clear.

Thanks. It seemed odd to me that a signing like that would be relegated to just an update to an online spreadsheet.

Hoping to hear something later this week.

I asked Jim Callis a question on Cole/Solis in his BA chat today:

Quote
SF882 (Northern VA): Are the Nats going to sign Sammy Solis and/or AJ Cole? Has there been any progress here?

Jim Callis: My guess is they sign Solis and don't sign Cole. I'd be a little surprised if they spent what it took to sign both those guys after spending what it will take to sign Harper with the No. 1 overall pick.
