Why Blue Moon ?

Because it's indicative of people pretending to be into a certain scene because it's the cool or trendy thing while highlighting their own ignorance on the subject they are trying so desperately to feign experience in.

I don't have a problem with the beer itself. I have a problem when someone tries to throw their nose in the air like some righteous beer snob while they are drinking mass produced swill with a fancy label on it.

Sitting at Dogfishhead right now drinking a Sierra Nevada Torpedo I brought in.

Just kidding, I got the 60 minute.

The brewpub in Rehoboth or one of the Alehouses in the DC Metro area?

Nice, sitting at the bar? Have you ever had the bartender mix up a couple different beers? It's pretty cool. Some of the better bartenders there know which beers compliment each other and they will mix it up for ya.

I had Punkin mixed with one of the IPAs... it was really good.

Is the Alehouse in Falls Church where the Montgomery Wards used to be?

EDIT:   Nevermind, that was on Route 50.   I google mapped it and see it's on 7 behind the Depot.

I like Blue Moon.  It sort of falls into the same general category as Panera or Chipotle IMHO...a mass-market product that's orders of magnitude better than the alternatives (Burger King, Miller Lite) when one does not have easy access to the really good crap.

I can't really say I've ever run into anyone trying to show their "cool" through a beer.  When I lived in the DC area, the pretentiousness came in the form of workplaces or projects.  Here in OBX, the pretentiousness has a different angle altogether.  I live on a golf course, so there are many more Judge Smeel types than Rodney Dangerfield types.

Beer is too important to be a lifestyle choice.

I seriously had a girl tell me that she "was a beer snob" and wouldn't drink anything other than Blue Moon

Unless the ride a rice burner

If that (riding a Japanese bike) works for you, it's cool.    True story:   Retired CPO rode a Goldwing.    He was in the NCO club and his buddies reported that his bike was leaking.    He went to the spot where his bike was parked and one of them had put a pile of rice under the bike.

Has anyone found a good dark beer (porter or stoudt) in a can ?
No, not Guinness - it's the Budweiser of dark beer

DC Brau has Penn Quarter Porter that's great if you can find it, in general, I don't think drinking out of a can works as well for dark beers as for pale ales or belgians

Try Ten Fidy from Oscar Blues, an American Imperial/Double Stout (10.5%!)  A little pricy at $10ish per four-pack, but at that alcohol percent, it goes a long way.

Hoegaarden is better than Blue Moon anyway.

Not sure if this is a joke since Hoegaarden is InBev

I got an email from a local brewery with the subject "Give Thanks for Dad's Sack" and in the little preview you get in GMail it said "Having trouble seeing your dad's sack below? View it online, instead.

:lmao:

I want to go though, too bad my dad doesn't like any kind of beer other than bud/miller/coors light.  :|

Everyone (even frothing-at-the-mouth misandronysts like Andrea Dworkin) has to be grateful for dad's sack.

Went to Wegman's today and built my own 6 pack.   I played it safe:

Samuel Adams Boston Lager
Alewerks Wheat Ale
Great Lakes Commodore Perry
Wood Chuck Hard Cider
St. Pauli Girl
Dominion English Ale
